With Borderlands 4 right around\h the corner, I, Suggestive Gaming,\h\h figure there’s no better time to revisit\h the wild, over-the-top, and surprisingly\h\h interconnected saga of Pandora and beyond.\h It’s been six years since I first covered\h\h the Borderlands storyline here on the channel, and\h since then, the series has expanded with sequels,\h\h spin-offs, and new tales; meaning it’s long\h past due for a full, updated retelling. In this complete re-do, I’m going to do my best\h to cover everything that’s considered canon across\h\h
the Borderlands universe:from the first group\h of Vault Hunters’ arrival on Pandora, through\h\h the rise and fall of Handsome Jack, the battle\h against the Children of the Vault, and even all of\h\h Tiny Tina’s chaotic fantasy adventures. I’m also\h going to weave in most of the major DLC storylines\h\h and supplemental canon material, placing them in\h chronological order so you get the full picture. As always, especially with giant open-world\h games like Borderlands, I will have to leave\h\h a lot of things out, however. Optional missions,\h several side-characters, and even some minor DLCs\h\h will be left out for brevity’s sake and to\h focus on the series’ main narrative threads. Also, due to some questionable canonicity\h at this point, I’m going to leave out the\h\h
stories of the “Borderlands:Origins”\h and “Fall of Fyrestone” comic book runs,\h\h as well as a trilogy of novels by John Shirley.\h However, as of just the past year or so,\h\h we’ve seen the release of a couple of new comics,\h as well as a novel by longtime series writer\h\h Anthony Burch. Due to how recent their releases\h are, I’m going to say it’s safe enough to assume\h\h they are meant to be canon at this point, so\h I’ll briefly go over their storylines as well. However, before you ask, NO. I won’t\h be covering the 2024 Borderlands film\h\h adaptation from writer-director Eli\h Roth. This video is dedicated purely\h\h to the canon of the games, and that movie\h was… well… non-canon. Let’s go with that. Now, without further ado, this is what you need\h to know about the complete Borderlands timeline.\h Our story begins in the distant future, where\h humanity has utilized faster-than-light travel\h\h to travel the galaxy and spread the wonders\h of capitalism across the various star systems.\h\h As megacorporations begin to grow, they eventually\h overthrow humanity’s centralized government,\h\h with an alliance of weapons manufacturers\h emerging as the leaders of a new corporate rule. Eventually, an explorer named Typhon DeLeon\h searches several planets for a fabled “Vault”,\h\h said to contain vast riches left behind\h by an ancient race called the “Eridians”,\h\h long presumed to be extinct. DeLeon is able to\h locate the Vault, as well as the Key to open it,\h\h on the planet of “Promethea”. Typhon\h sells the Key to the “Atlas” corporation,\h\h who open the Vault and use the Eridian\h technology inside to develop extremely\h\h advanced weaponry, soaring their profit margins\h and cementing them as the top megacorporation. However, these record profits\h only count as a quarterly-win,\h\h so when Eridian ruins pop up on the planet\h of “Pandora”, Atlas starts hunting there for\h\h a second Vault. Unfortunately, their search is\h abandoned after six years of finding nothing,\h\h and the company pulls out their resources,\h leaving several stranded colonists behind. Years later, the “Dahl” corporation sends\h an archaeologist specializing in Eridian\h\h technology named Dr. Patricia Tannis to\h Pandora to determine if a Vault truly\h\h exists on the planet. When the research\h results in the deaths of most of her team,\h\h Dahl similarly abandons their\h search and leaves the planet. However, Tannis continues her search,\h and while she nearly loses her sanity,\h\h she does discover that a Vault does\h in fact exist on Pandora. However,\h\h it can only be opened every two-hundred\h years, by using a special Vault Key that\h\h must be assembled from fragments,\h one of which she supposedly locates.\h\h Hoping for help finding all of the pieces,\h Patricia Tannis then sends out a signal to\h\h spread the legend of the Vault and inspire others\h to hunt for the Vault Key fragments on Pandora. Sometime later, a team of four Vault\h Hunters arrive on Pandora to begin\h\h their own search. These hunters include Roland,\h\h a former Soldier from the Atlas Corporation’s\h“Crimson Lance” militia on Promethea, Mordecai,\h\h a sniper who uses his flying pet “Bloodwing”\h to attack enemies, Brick, a hulking berserker,\h\h
and Lilith, one of six “Sirens”:humans who\h have somehow obtained mysterious powers. As the Vault Hunters are transported in a\h bus driven by weapons dealer Marcus Kincaid,\h\h they begin to experience visions through\h the planet’s ECHOnet communication network.\h\h These mysterious messages are from a woman\h calling herself their “Guardian Angel”,\h\h and she claims that she’ll\h help them find the Vault. The Vault Hunters step off the bus to find\h themselves outside the town of Fyrestone,\h\h greeted by a funny little robot designated\h“CL4-TP” or more commonly known as:\h\h“Claptrap”. After showing them the\h“New-U Station”, an invention from the\h\h“Hyperion” Corporation which allows users\h to resurrect and change their appearance,\h\h Claptrap leads the Vault Hunters to Fyrestone.\h After clearing the town of some invading bandits,\h\h
the Hunters meet its only inhabitant:\h Doctor Zed, who gives them some tasks\h\h to get them familiar with Pandora while\h they begin their search for the Vault. Guided along by more messages from the “Guardian\h Angel”, the Vault Hunters meet other inhabitants\h\h of Pandora, including a weapons inventor\h named T.K. Baha and a mechanic named Scooter,\h\h whose “Catch-A-Ride” stations allow\h the Vault Hunters to summon vehicles. While working to take out a brute named "Sledge",\h the Vault Hunters are contacted by Commandant\h\h Steele of the Crimson Lance, who warns them that\h their mercenary activities won’t be tolerated.\h\h Regardless, the hunters take out Sledge and\h obtain an Eridian artifact he was holding,\h\h which the Guardian Angel immediately recognizes\h as one of the fragments of the Vault Key. Leaving Fyrestone, the Vault Hunters enter\h Dahl’s territory on Pandora, taking out a\h\h bandit named Mad Mel on their way to the town of\h“New Haven”. There, they meet the town’s leader,\h\h Helena Pierce, who is currently warring with\h Commandant Steele, whose Crimson Lance wants\h\h to take New Haven under their control. The\h Vault Hunters help New Haven establish their\h\h independence, picking up a transmission\h from Dr. Patricia Tannis on their way. The Hunters soon find Tannis, who fills them\h in on her research regarding the Vault and\h\h its Key. When she recognizes the Vault\h Key fragment in the Hunters’ possession,\h\h she sends them out to retrieve another\h piece that is in the possession of a\h\h bandit named Krom. The Vault Hunters\h dispatch Krom and obtain the fragment,\h\h eventually hunting down the third piece of the\h key on the “Trash Coast,” retrieving it as well. With only the Vault Key fragment that\h Tannis found remaining to complete the key,\h\h Patricia unfortunately reveals that it was\h stolen from her by bandit leader Baron Flynt\h\h(who also punched her dog after stealing\h it). The Hunters head to the Salt Flats,\h\h where they defeat the dirty dog-puncher Flynt. However, as they loot his corpse, they find that\h Baron Flynt didn’t have a key fragment. Commandant\h\h Steele then calls the Vault Hunters to inform them\h that a fourth piece never existed, and that Tannis\h\h had only used them to retrieve the three real\h Vault Key fragments before sending them off on\h\h a wild goose chase as a distraction so she could\h open the Vault herself. Steele and the Crimson\h\h Lance have captured Patricia Tannis, and are now\h in possession of all of the Vault Key fragments. Steele then warns the Vault Hunters to leave the\h planet, shutting down Pandora’s ECHO network to\h\h exert the Atlas Corporation’s control. The Hunters\h fight their way to rescue Dr. Patricia Tannis,\h\h who maintains her innocence, claiming\h that the betrayal was Steele’s doing. Whatever the case may be, the Vault Hunters\h reactivate the ECHO communication system,\h\h and with the Guardian Angel’s help, they rush to\h the Vault’s location to attempt to stop Commandant\h\h Steele from opening it. When they arrive,\h they find Steele preparing to open the Vault,\h\h with the Key Fragments in hand. She then reveals\h herself to be another one of the Six Sirens,\h\h using her powers to combine the Key Fragments\h and finally reveal the entrance to the Vault. Unfortunately for Steele, the Key opens it\h to also reveal the Eridian’s true purpose\h\h for the Vaults. A tentacle then shoots out\h of the Vault’s opening, piercing Commandant\h\h Steele and killing her. As it turns out, the\h Vault wasn’t constructed to hold treasures,\h\h but instead to hold “The Destroyer”, a massive\h creature from another reality, prisoner. Luckily, outside of its own realm, the\h Destroyer is left vulnerable to attack, and\h\h the Vault Hunters summon all of their strength and\h weaponry to bring the intergalactic beast down. The Guardian Angel then contacts them once again,\h revealing that she tricked them in order to\h\h ensure the Destroyer would not escape while the\h Vault was open. The Vault is sealed once again,\h\h and the 200 year cycle begins anew. While the\h Guardian apologizes for the lack of riches,\h\h she notes that Tannis will likely pay a\h pretty penny for the reassembled Vault Key.\h\h In Pandora’s orbit, a satellite from\h the Hyperion Corporation transmits\h\h the Guardian Angel’s messages\h back and forth to the Hunters. While the Vault Hunter’s quest for the\h treasures of the fabled Vault ends fruitless,\h\h they nonetheless continue\h their exploits on Pandora,\h\h helping its various inhabitants and stumbling\h into a few other adventures on the way.\h One of which takes them to Jakobs Cove,\h where the former employees of Jakobs\h\h Corp. have not only died… but mysteriously\h have been popping up undead on the island. When the Vault Hunters arrive,\h the local Claptrap explains that\h\h the town’s automated defenses weren’t\h programmed to recognize the zombies\h\h as enemies. The Hunters recalibrate the\h turrets, fending off waves of the undead,\h\h
before seeking out Jakobs’ resident doctor:\h Dr. Ned, who isn’t Dr. Zed in disguise. Ned claims he has nothing to do with\h the outbreak, though he does ask for\h\h their help in creating a cure using local\h creatures called “skags’” DNA. The Vault\h\h Hunters recover the necessary materials\h from the decrepit “Generally Hospital”,\h\h though their Guardian Angel quietly\h warns them not to trust the doctor. Pressing onward, the Hunters uncover a hidden\h Jakobs laboratory, revealing that Dr. Ned is,\h\h in fact, responsible for unleashing the zombie\h horde. Despite his denials, evidence begins piling\h\h up, and Jakobs Corp. themselves send orders\h for the Vault Hunters to clean up the mess. The group then battles their way across Dead\h Haven and into the lumberyards, where they\h\h confront Ned’s various failed experiments.\h Along the way, they discover ECHO logs tying\h\h Ned directly to the outbreak, and ultimately\h receive corporate authorization to take him out. Eventually, the Hunters corner Dr. Ned at\h the old Mill, where he falls into his final\h\h twisted form. Transformed into a monstrous\h undead version of himself, he attacks with\h\h everything he has. After a grueling fight, the\h Vault Hunters bring him down once and for all,\h\h finally putting an end to the plague\h that had swept across Jakobs Cove. With the island’s fate sealed, Jakobs Corp.\h quietly distances themselves from the incident,\h\h and the Vault Hunters once again\h set off into the wastes of Pandora,\h\h slightly richer for their efforts. The Vault Hunters are then met with\h\h a more… theatrical challenge. They step\h into The Underdome, a gladiatorial cage\h\h crafted for chaos and mayhem, presided over by\h the seductive yet unhinged Mad Moxxi. Seeking\h\h thrills (and husband number four) she invites\h challengers to participate in her blood sport. Under merciless conditions, the Hunters must\h endure wave after wave of enemies: grunts,\h\h gunners, psychos, and resurrected bosses. As\h bullets fly and modifiers tighten the noose,\h\h Moxxi taunts and entertains from above. The Vault Hunters fight, survive,\h and prove themselves… earning what\h\h
few gain:a single skill point from\h Pandora’s most eccentric ringmaster.\h Not long after, the Vault Hunters find themselves\h drawn into yet another corporate crisis. The Atlas\h\h Corporation, humiliated by their failure at the\h Vault and desperate to reassert their dominance,\h\h dispatches their Crimson Lance army to Pandora.\h At their head is the battle-weary General Knoxx,\h\h a man tired of endless campaigns\h but still loyal to his orders. The Vault Hunters are contacted by Athena,\h a rogue assassin who once served the Crimson\h\h Lance but has now turned against them (after\h Atlas tricked her into killing her own sister).\h\h Offering her knowledge and aid, she explains\h that Atlas has built a secret armory on Pandora,\h\h a hidden fortress overflowing with\h advanced weaponry. If the Hunters can\h\h take down Knoxx and his army, the armory\h(and its riches) will be theirs to keep. Their journey begins at T-Bone Junction, a\h dilapidated outpost in the middle of the desert,\h\h where they reconnect with Scooter and start\h tearing through the Crimson Lance’s defenses\h\h with newly built vehicles. It’s here that\h the Vault Hunters learn something surprising:\h\h Mad Moxxi, the flamboyant mistress of the\h Underdome, is actually Scooter’s mother;\h\h a fact the mechanic doesn’t exactly brag about. As the Hunters cut through Crimson Lance\h strongholds, they discover that Athena has been\h\h captured and imprisoned within Lockdown Palace,\h a massive prison run by the deranged warden Shank\h\h(who also happens to be one of Moxxi’s many\h ex-husbands). Battling through the prison,\h\h the Hunters fight and kill Shank before freeing\h Athena, securing her as an ally against Knoxx. With Athena’s guidance, the Hunters push\h deeper into Crimson Lance territory,\h\h uncovering codes and intel that lead them straight\h to the heart of Knoxx’s operations. Eventually,\h\h they face the general himself. Despite\h his exhaustion with Atlas’ endless wars,\h\h Knoxx fulfills his duty and fights with\h everything he has. After a fierce battle,\h\h the Hunters defeat him, ending\h his miserable reign on Pandora. Athena then guides them to the Armory itself.\h Using the access codes, the Vault Hunters open its\h\h massive doors to reveal a treasure hoard of Atlas\h technology. However, the riches come with a catch:\h\h the entire facility is set to self-destruct.\h With only minutes to spare, the Hunters grab\h\h as much loot as they can carry before the\h armory detonates in a massive explosion,\h\h erasing one of Atlas’ greatest assets and\h sending the company toward their downfall.\h Not long after their raid on the\h Secret Armory, the Vault Hunters\h\h once again find Pandora thrown into chaos…\h this time not by bandits or corporations,\h\h but by the planet’s least\h likely threat: Claptraps. When a single unit, the Interplanetary Ninja\h Assassin Claptrap (or INAC for short) grows\h\h tired of years of abuse and mockery, it decides\h to lead a full-scale rebellion against humanity.\h\h INAC rallies an army of Claptraps to\h rise up and overthrow their oppressors,\h\h dubbing the movement the “Robolution.” The uprising quickly spirals out of control,\h with Claptraps reprogramming Pandora’s beasts,\h\h machines, and even the corpses of fallen\h enemies into twisted “Claptrapized” forms.\h\h This includes old foes given a second,\h more ridiculous life as General Knoxx-Trap,\h\h Steele-Trap, and the dual nightmare\h of Dr. Ned-Trap and Undead Ned-Trap. Answering the crisis at Tartarus Station, the\h Vault Hunters are contracted by Hyperion’s\h\h representative, Mr. Blake, to put an end to the\h Robolution. Along the way they reconnect with\h\h Patricia Tannis, who, despite her usual paranoia,\h offers insights into how the Claptraps have broken\h\h free of their normal programming, and just how\h dangerous INAC could become if left unchecked. Fighting their way through hordes of\h mechanized monsters and corrupted bandits,\h\h the Hunters eventually run into Marcus Kincaid.\h Sent by Hyperion to whisk the Vault Hunters away\h\h to “new and exciting opportunities” on planets\h like Eden-6, Marcus instead finds himself\h\h directly in INAC’s sights. The assassin\h bot swiftly takes him out (though Marcus\h\h ultimately survives the encounter) and makes it\h clear that his Robolution isn’t stopping here. The problem for INAC is that he was\h never designed for direct combat. So,\h\h to face the Hunters head-on, he deploys his\h secret weapon: the colossal Mega Interplanetary\h\h Ninja Assassin Claptrap, or MINAC. After\h wearing down its Claptrap reinforcements\h\h and tearing the machine apart, the Hunters\h finally bring the giant to its knees. With his greatest weapon destroyed, INAC\h himself emerges for the final showdown,\h\h only to be immediately cut down in a… pretty short\h fight. With the revolutionary leader obliterated,\h\h the Claptraps across Pandora are rebooted\h back to their harmless, bumbling state; And so, Pandora returns to its usual state of\h violent instability, while the Claptraps once\h\h again fade into the background… at least until\h one of them inevitably gets another bad idea…\h Meanwhile, Athena spends the next\h years wandering Pandora as a hired gun. Four years after the opening of the Vault\h on Pandora, she receives a job offer from\h\h a low level Hyperion programmer\h named Jack. Athena accepts the job:\h\h hunting for a Vault on the planet’s moon, Elpis. Athena is joined by Claptrap as well as three\h others: Wilhelm (a cybernetically enhanced\h\h mercenary), Nisha (a bandit-hunting gunslinger),\h Aurelia (Baroness and heiress to the Hammerlock\h\h family fortune), and Timothy Lawrence (one\h of Handsome Jack’s body doubles). This new\h\h group of Vault Hunters board a ship and head to\h the “Helios” space station: Hyperion’s orbital\h\h main base of operations. On the way, however,\h the group is attacked by the “Lost Legion”,\h\h a military group under the Dahl Corporation,\h who go on to siege the Helios station. The Vault Hunters crash land on Helios\h and dodge their way through the ongoing\h\h battle to follow a Claptrap unit to Jack.\h Unfortunately, the Claptrap doesn’t last long,\h\h but the Vault Hunters are contacted by the\h cocky programmer himself. They find Jack,\h\h under fire from Dahl forces, and\h rescue him from his attackers. They try to activate the base’s defense systems,\h but are blocked by an unknown signal from Elpis.\h\h Forced to evacuate, the Vault Hunters follow Jack\h to the escape ships as the Lost Legion’s leader,\h\h Colonel Tungsteena Zarpedon, announces their\h occupation of the Helios space station over\h\h the PA system. As they reach the ships,\h however, Zarpedon arrives in the flesh,\h\h donning a powersuit with weapons she’s able\h to use to destroy the groups’ means of escape. Zarpedon recognizes Jack, who takes\h aim and fires at her. Suddenly,\h\h an unknown alien entity arrives and stops Jack’s\h bullets in air to protect the Colonel. Jack and\h\h the Vault Hunters are able to duck away from\h Zarpedon and her mysterious bodyguard, and the\h\h programmer is contacted by Harold Tassiter,\h CEO of Hyperion. Jack hides the seriousness\h\h of the situation from Tassiter, who reminds\h Jack that he’s only there to observe Pandora. Jack figures out a new way for the\h group to reach Elpis via a “Moonshot”,\h\h but is forced to stay behind to pilot it. Athena\h and the other three Vault Hunters then load into\h\h a cargo container before Jack fires it off\h toward Concordia, the largest town on Elpis,\h\h for them to begin their search for the\h jamming signal blocking Helios’ defenses. As the cargo container comes\h crashing down onto Elpis,\h\h a local junk dealer named Janey Springs\h spots it and meets with the Vault Hunters,\h\h helping them survive the moon’s atmosphere\h so they can safely reach Concordia. Once they reach Concordia, Jack contacts\h the Vault Hunters and has them seek out an\h\h ex-Hyperion employee named\h Huxter who runs the town.\h\h Huxter, the “Meriff” of the town (an extremely\h clever portmanteau of “Sheriff” and “Mayor”),\h\h refuses to meet with them, however, so Jack\h has the Hunters go to the nearby bar instead. There, Athena finds some familiar\h faces amongst the patrons: none\h\h other than former Vault Hunters (and current\h romantic couple) Lilith and Roland. The pair\h\h refuse to help the new group of Vault Hunters,\h however, as they’re simply there on vacation. The Vault Hunters instead meet with the\h bar’s owner, who turns out to be Pandora’s\h\h
greatest show-woman:Mad Moxxi. Moxxi helps the\h Hunters triangulate the jamming signal’s origin:\h\h a long-abandoned Dahl communications\h facility. However, as the Hunters attempt\h\h to leave Concordia to find the facility,\h the Meriff locks down all of the exits. Looking for a hidden exit, the Vault Hunters find\h Moxxi’s secret workshop, walking in on her to find\h\h her “out of character” and working as a mechanic\h(like her son). Moxxi agrees to help them out of\h\h Concordia through a secret exit (in exchange\h for their secrecy of her dual-personality). As they exit the city, however, the Vault\h Hunters look to see Helios, still under\h\h Colonel Zarpedon’s control, firing its massive\h laser, the “Eye of Helios”, directly at Elpis. Luckily, the Hunters are able to reach the Dahl\h comms facility and shut down the jammer signal,\h\h bringing back Hyperion’s\h security on Helios. However,\h\h they are soon surprised when the Meriff calls\h to find out what happened at the facility,\h\h revealing himself to have been\h working with Zarpedon all along. With Helios’ automated security and travel\h systems back online, Jack is able to meet\h\h with the Vault Hunters on Concordia. With Moxxi’s\h help, the Hunters are able to accompany Jack to\h\h the Meriff’s office to confront him. When the\h Meriff tries to kill Jack, the programmer is\h\h forced to pull his own weapon and return fire,\h taking out the Meriff and securing the city. Jack comes up with a new plan to take the fight to\h Helios: amassing a robot army by equipping combat\h\h chassis with a top-of-the-line military AI. The\h Hunters meet with Janey Springs in search of an\h\h AI, who sends them to meet with Davis Pickle,\h a young thief who agrees to help them steal one\h\h from the ex-Dahl Drakensburg warship. There, the\h ship’s second-in-command, known as the “Skipper”\h\h assists them as they fight through the warship’s\h defenses, as well as the ship’s current leader,\h\h a former Dahl AI-technician known as “the\h Bosun”. With the obstacles out of their way,\h\h the Hunters find the ship’s AI core,\h revealed to be the Skipper herself. They take the AI, who renames herself “Felicity”,\h before receiving a call from Roland, who has\h\h agreed to help them secure robot bodies at the\h abandoned Dahl “Titan Robot Production Plant.”\h\h The Vault Hunters make their way to the\h factory, where they meet a Hyperion scientist\h\h named Gladstone Katoa, who coincidentally\h has been working on a “Constructor” robot\h\h that can digistruct an almost infinite supply of\h other bots: perfect for creating a robot army. Unfortunately, Felicity isn’t too keen on the\h idea of being uploaded into the Constructor bot,\h\h so as soon as she’s uploaded into its prototype\h body, she goes Rampant and turns on the Hunters.\h\h They’re forced to disable the robot by\h force, before Felicity’s personality is\h\h erased and the Constructor bot immediately\h begins to pump out robots at Jack’s command. The Vault Hunters regroup with Jack, Moxxi,\h Lilith, and Roland back at the bar, with the\h\h two former Vault Hunters agreeing to head up to\h Helios with Jack and the current ones as support. With the jamming signal down and a robot army\h acquired, the only thing left in their way is\h\h the Eye of Helios laser. The Hunters fast travel\h back to the Helios station, but find the path to\h\h the laser still locked down. They meet Jack in his\h office, where they all suddenly pick up a distress\h\h call from Gladstone, who’s currently under fire\h in the Research & Development department. Hoping\h\h Gladstone can help hack the security doors open,\h the Vault Hunters head to R&D to rescue him. They successfully rescue Gladstone,\h as well as three other scientists,\h\h and they begin working on disabling the security\h system. As Jack wonders how Zarpedon could still\h\h have control of security, Gladstone posits\h that perhaps the Meriff wasn’t her only mole. The Vault Hunters regroup with Jack,\h Lilith, and Roland in Jack’s office,\h\h and the Hunters give Jack a cloaking\h device from one of the scientists they\h\h rescued in R&D. As soon as the scientists\h get the path to the Eye of Helios open,\h\h however, Jack opens an airlock\h and jettisons them out into space,\h\h reasoning that one of them could have been working\h with Zarpedon in a cruel act of chaotic paranoia. Moxxi calls in to assist in shutting down the\h Eye of Helios, sending Roland and Lilith to\h\h the station’s reactor while having Jack\h and the Hunters go to the Eye itself.\h\h Unfortunately, when they arrive in its\h control room, they find the interfaces\h\h offline, forcing them to go down to the\h laser core to shut it down manually. On their way, however, the group is ambushed\h by Colonel T. Zarpedon in her powersuit,\h\h prompting a final battle with the\h leader of the Lost Legion. Or so it\h\h seems… As soon as they take down\h the powersuit, Zarpedon emerges,\h\h glowing purple and empowered by her\h previous exposure to Eridian artifacts. The Hunters defeat her Zarpedon in battle, and\h in its wake, Jack questions her on the location\h\h of the Vault on Elpis. Zarpedon claims\h that she’s seen what’s inside the Vault,\h\h warning Jack to stay away, lest he trigger a\h horrible chain of events. Jack is simply jealous\h\h that he didn’t get to open the Vault himself,\h shooting Zarpedon to put her out of her misery. The group then continues to the laser core,\h\h where Jack reveals the Eye of Helios\h to be… a literal eye. As it turns out,\h\h after the massive Destroyer was released from the\h Vault and subsequently killed on Pandora, Jack\h\h retrieved its Eye and used it to power the laser\h on Helios, explaining the weapon’s immense power. The group shut down the eye and return\h to the control room, where Moxxi, Lilith,\h\h and Roland reveal that they had been\h secretly working against Jack, whose own\h\h hunger for power has grown too dangerous.\h Moxxi sabotages the Eye’s energy systems,\h\h overloading them and destroying the Eye\h of the Destroyer, much to Jack’s dismay. Jack is then left with no choice\h but to race the others to the Vault,\h\h enlisting the help of Athena and the rest of\h his new Vault Hunters. As they reach it, Jack\h\h receives another call from Tassiter, informing\h him that the board has approved his firing. Regardless, the Vault Hunters fight through\h the final Lost Legion defenses waiting for\h\h them to reach Elesser, the core of the\h Elpis moon. Once the coast is clear,\h\h the group reach the entrance\h to the Vault of the Sentinel,\h\h
which they enter to quickly meet its namesake:\h the Eridian-made Guardian of the Vault. After a vicious, multi-phase battle with\h the Sentinel, the Vault Hunters defeat\h\h the massive guardian, bringing it down and\h clearing the way for Jack to enter the Vault. Inside the Vault, however, Jack finds the only\h treasure waiting is a strange Eridian artifact:\h\h a small, glowing icon floating in-air. At\h first, he scoffs at the sight, disappointed\h\h after everything they had gone through.\h However, when he reaches out to touch it,\h\h the icon reacts, lifting him into the air and\h materializing a throne behind him. As Jack sits,\h\h visions of the Vault of the Warrior flash before\h his eyes, and he’s overwhelmed by the true scope\h\h of the Eridians’ power. Laughing manically, Jack\h declares that he finally understands everything. Before he can revel in his discovery,\h however, Lilith suddenly teleports\h\h in. Greeting with “hello, handsome,”\h she punches the icon into his face,\h\h searing a Vault symbol into his skin\h and burning his left eye blind. Lilith\h\h then leaves just as quickly as she arrived.\h Screaming in agony, Jack rises from the ground,\h\h his face scarred and twisted, as he swears\h vengeance on Lilith and the other Vault Hunters. Fueled by his pain and rage, Jack commands\h Athena and the others to find him a doctor. Then,\h\h with his vision turned toward the future, he\h lays out his new plan: to wipe the bandits of\h\h Pandora from existence, and awaken a monster\h he now knows is hidden beneath the planet:\h\h The Warrior. Sitting back on his throne,\h Jack imagines the destruction to come,\h\h promising that the planet will burn, the bandits\h will scream, and all will fall before his wrath. Sometime later, we find the new CEO of\h Hyperion sitting in Harold Tassiter’s old seat:\h\h a man donning a synthetic mask to hide his\h scars now going by the name "Handsome Jack.”\h Not long after taking over Hyperion, Handsome\h Jack learns of a powerful program hidden away\h\h
by his predecessor Tassiter:the\h“H-Source”. Containing prototypes,\h\h access codes, and corporate secrets, the\h program would give Jack unrivaled control\h\h over Hyperion. The problem is that Tassiter\h buried it inside an experimental Claptrap unit,\h\h and the only way to retrieve it is\h by diving directly into its mind. Jack enlists his trusty Vault Hunters for the\h job, digitizing them and sending them into a\h\h virtual simulation of Claptrap’s consciousness.\h Inside, the Hunters encounter corrupted memories,\h\h unstable subroutines, and distorted recreations\h of people from Claptrap’s past. Here they meet\h\h 5H4D0W-TP, or “Shadowtrap,” a program\h tied to Claptrap since his creation.\h\h Pretending to be an ally, Shadowtrap guides\h the Vault Hunters deeper into the simulation,\h\h pushing them to obtain an Override Key\h that will allow access to the H-Source. Along the way, the Hunters recover\h personifications of Claptrap’s own “Hope”\h\h and “Self-Esteem,” while uncovering a hidden\h memory of his birth that reveals Shadowtrap\h\h briefly took control of him before being\h suppressed. Once the Override Key is secured,\h\h
Shadowtrap’s true intentions are revealed:\h he never planned to hand over the H-Source,\h\h and instead uses it to force his way\h deeper into Claptrap’s subconscious. The Vault Hunters pursue him, battling through\h corrupted environments until finally facing\h\h Shadowtrap directly. He transforms into\h a massive battle form called ECLIPSE,\h\h and then into the construct EOS, forcing\h the Hunters through a brutal multi-phase\h\h fight. In the end, the Hunters manage\h to destroy him and recover the H-Source. When the program is returned, Handsome\h Jack immediately uses it to seize full\h\h control of Hyperion’s systems. With its\h power, he orders the termination of every\h\h Claptrap unit, calling them worthless\h and shutting down the line completely. The experimental Claptrap himself is shot\h and tossed into a pile of dismantled units\h\h in Windshear Waste. Even then, Shadowtrap\h manages to survive once more, slipping back\h\h into Claptrap’s code and rebooting him. As pandora\h creatures begin picking through the wreckage,\h\h they’re driven off by a hunter named Sir Alistair\h Hammerlock (sister of one of Jack’s Vault Hunters,\h\h Lady Aurelia), who stumbles upon the\h broken unit. Deciding to repair it,\h\h Hammerlock inadvertently ensures that\h Claptrap will live to annoy Jack another day.\h Meanwhile, Athena’s legend of her time with\h Handsome Jack and the other Vault Hunters spreads\h\h across Pandora. While Athena recounts her story\h of Jack’s rise and fall, her audience includes two\h\h
would-be Vault Hunters:Axton (the “Commando”) and\h Gaige (the “Mechromancer”). Rather than hanging on\h\h the finer details, the pair constantly interrupt\h her, asking for more action and spectacle. To satisfy them, Athena and Janey Springs\h demonstrate her battles inside the “Holodome,”\h\h a combat simulator designed to recreate\h key moments from her fight against the\h\h Lost Legion and beyond. The Vault Hunters\h are thrown into wave after wave of enemies,\h\h reliving Athena’s encounters against\h bandits, soldiers, and mechanized threats. As the waves intensify, Axton and\h Gaige provide running commentary,\h\h treating the ordeal more like entertainment\h than a history lesson. Athena pushes back,\h\h continuing her account while dispatching\h the enemies that stand before her,\h\h determined to ensure the truth of what happened\h isn’t lost among the constant interruptions. By surviving the Holodome’s challenges, the\h Hunters prove their strength once again,\h\h while Athena’s tale continues to build\h the legend of Handsome Jack, whose looming\h\h shadow grows ever larger with each retelling. The next year, now five years since the Vault’s\h\h opening on Pandora, we find a new group of Vault\h Hunters, including Axton and Gaige as well as\h\h another Siren named Maya, a hulking “Gunzerker”\h named Salvador, the most effective assassin in\h\h the galaxy known only as “Zer0”, and Krieg, a\h volatile Psycho with devastating melee power.\h\h These new Hunters take on a job from Handsome\h Jack searching for the Vault of the Warrior.…or so it would seem. As it turns out,\h the job offer was simply a ruse to draw\h\h out any competition Jack may have searching\h for the Vault himself. The train’s security\h\h quickly turns against the Vault Hunters,\h forcing them to test their new-found team\h\h dynamic. Luckily they’re able to survive\h the assault, but are soon bamboozled by\h\h
another one of Handsome Jack’s traps:a dummy\h decoy of himself strapped with explosives. When the bombs detonate, the train is blown off\h the tracks, leaving the new team of Vault Hunters\h\h stranded in the freezing Windshear Waste. Luckily,\h the group are soon discovered by the very same\h\h Claptrap unit that was similarly ditched there by\h Jack and subsequently repaired by Sir Hammerlock. Claptrap gets his new friends equipped with an\h ECHO unit, and the Guardian Angel once again\h\h contacts the Vault Hunters, urging them to be\h the new heroes that Pandora now needs thanks\h\h to Handsome Jack’s tyranny. The Guardian\h Angel further encourages them to work with\h\h Claptrap to get to the city “Sanctuary”, the\h last bastion of the resistance against Jack. Despite warnings from Handsome Jack himself, the\h Vault Hunters help Claptrap repair himself after\h\h an attack from Pandora wildlife, meeting Sir\h Hammerlock on the way. Fighting through bandits\h\h Boom Bewm and Captain Flynt, the Hunters\h help Claptrap reach his boat, which they\h\h use to reach the city of Sanctuary (with some\h help from Scooter to Catch-A-Ride on the way). Unfortunately, before they’re allowed through\h the city’s gates, the Vault Hunters are\h\h forced to assist Roland, and his new group\h forged from the ashes of the Crimson Lance,\h\h the “Crimson Raiders”, by retrieving a stolen\h power core to restore Sanctuary’s defenses. Finally in the city of Sanctuary, the Hunters\h learn that Roland has gone missing on his current\h\h mission before meeting Scooter in the flesh.\h They proceed to help Scooter initiate Roland’s\h\h
“Plan B”:launching Sanctuary into the sky to\h be a floating fortress free of Hyperion threat. Unfortunately…the plan fails, forcing the Vault\h Hunters to find Roland first. They’re summoned\h\h by a bandit leader known as the “Firehawk”, who\h they learn to be Lilith once they meet in person.\h\h They assist Lilith, whose Siren\h abilities have grown more powerful\h\h thanks to the “Eridium” that\h was released from the Vault.
Later, the Hunters meet Ellie:Mad\h Moxxi’s daughter, Scooter’s sister,\h\h and fellow mechanic. With her help, the\h Hunters are able to procure a vehicle\h\h to infiltrate the “Bloodshot” bandit camp to\h rescue Roland. During their escape, however,\h\h Roland is captured once again, this time\h by Hyperion. Taking out their machinery,\h\h the Vault Hunters finally ensure\h Roland’s safety and return to Sanctuary. There, Roland reveals that during his\h mission, he learned that Handsome Jack\h\h
doesn't intend on opening a Vault:he means to\h control it. Roland tells Lilith and the Vault\h\h Hunters about the Warrior, devising a plan to\h take control of it before Jack can. To do so,\h\h however, they need to steal the Vault\h Key that’s already in Handsome Jack’s\h\h possession (after he literally\h beat it out of Tannis’s hands). In order to find it, Roland sends the Vault\h Hunters to meet his spy, who they soon learn\h\h is none other than Mordecai, the sniper who\h helped open the first Vault (along with his\h\h trusty companion Bloodwing). According\h to Mordecai’s intel, a Hyperion train is\h\h traveling nearby, and hoping it contains the\h Vault Key, the Hunters make their way to it.
The group soon meets Tiny Tina:a 13-year-old\h demolitions expert with an equally explosive\h\h personality. Owing Roland a favor, Tina lends\h her skills in hijacking the Hyperion train.\h\h Using her explosives, the Vault Hunters derail\h the train, but find that it was simply a trap.\h\h Wilhelm, the cybernetically enhanced Vault\h Hunter still working under Handsome Jack,\h\h emerges from the train car and attacks. While Roland and Lilith warn the new\h Vault Hunters about Wilhelm’s power,\h\h the Guardian Angel encourages them to fight.\h While he puts up a tough fight, the Vault Hunters\h\h are able to kill Wilhelm, and the Guardian Angel\h points out an even stronger power core he dropped. The Hunters take the new power core\h back to Sanctuary, where they insert\h\h it into the shield generator to power\h up the city’s defenses. Unfortunately,\h\h as soon as they do, Handsome Jack calls with\h a massive revelation: the Guardian Angel had\h\h been working for him from the very start. The\h“power core” was simply an interface for her to\h\h gain control of Sanctuary’s defense systems,\h and she immediately shuts down the shields. As Helios begins to fire down on Sanctuary,\h the Vault Hunters help Scooter and Lilith\h\h get the city in the air. Lilith uses her\h Siren powers to teleport the city away,\h\h accidentally teleporting the Vault Hunters\h away from the group as Sanctuary begins\h\h to lift. They then watch as Lilith’s\h powers make the city vanish before them. As the Vault Hunters leave to search for\h Sanctuary’s new location, the Guardian\h\h Angel surprisingly contacts them once again,\h claiming that she’ll explain everything as soon\h\h as they get to “the Fridge”, where she believes\h Lilith may have taken the city. On the way,\h\h the Angel admits to her part in Jack’s plan,\h including tricking the original Vault Hunters to\h\h open the Vault on Pandora so he could obtain the\h Eridium inside. However, she claims to be sick of\h\h manipulating people on his behalf, informing the\h Hunters that the Vault Key is currently with her. The Guardian Angel helps the Vault Hunters use\h Hyperion tech to get back to the now floating\h\h city of Sanctuary. After reuniting with Roland and\h Lilith, the Guardian Angel again contacts them and\h\h insists on her change of heart. She tells them\h that Handsome Jack is trying to skip the 200-year\h\h recharge period of the Vault Key by using her\h power to charge it. She tasks the Vault Hunters\h\h with finding her AI core, which will in turn\h lead them to the Vault Key. Before signing off,\h\h
the Guardian Angel asks one more favor:whatever\h they do, don’t let Lilith into her chamber. In order to get past the Hyperion defenses,\h the Hunters need an upgraded Claptrap.\h\h Luckily, Mordecai has just the data required on\h Bloodwing’s collar; not so luckily, Bloodwing\h\h was captured by Hyperion. The Vault Hunters\h infiltrate the “Wildlife Exploitation Preserve”\h\h and reach Bloodwing, but unfortunately find that\h Jack had already experimented on her with Eridium,\h\h transforming her into a hostile, elemental\h monster. Despite Mordecai’s cries, the Hunters\h\h are forced to take Bloodwing down. Luckily,\h they’re able to take her down nonlethally,\h\h and the Hunters retrieve the chip from her collar;\h not so luckily, Jack reveals his final contingency\h\h as he activates a bomb in Bloodwing’s skull,\h killing her instantly, much to Mordecai’s horror. The Hunters install the upgrade in Claptrap\h and return to Sanctuary to regroup with Lilith,\h\h Roland, and the mourning Mordecai. Before\h their final strike on Hyperion, Roland sends\h\h the Vault Hunters with a note to deliver to\h a bandit leader known as the “Slab King.” This leader, as it turns out, is\h actually the final member of the\h\h
original group of Vault Hunters:Brick.\h He agrees to help, fighting alongside\h\h the new Hunters to get through Hyperion\h defenses on their way back to Sanctuary. There, the combined group of Original and New\h Vault Hunters are called by the Guardian Angel\h\h once again. She tells them that in order\h to breach the final door to her chambers,\h\h they’ll need to disguise themselves as Handsome\h Jack, passing a bio-scan and spoken password lock. In the Hyperion city of “Opportunity”, the Vault\h Hunters find one of the body doubles employed\h\h by Jack to confuse assassins, and proceed to\h kill him in order to obtain Jack’s bio-data.\h\h They then collect samples of Jack’s voice\h to create a voice modulator to imitate him. Regrouping back in Sanctuary one last time,\h Roland lays out the final plan to his fellow\h\h
Vault Hunters:Lilith and Mordecai will\h stay behind to protect the city while Brick\h\h provides air support for Roland as he climbs up\h to Angel’s core control room from the cliff face. Meanwhile, the new Vault Hunters join Claptrap to\h get past the shields to fight through an onslaught\h\h of opposition. After an intense battle against the\h“BNK-3R” (Bunker), Jack’s greatest defense bot,\h\h the Hunters are able to finally access the doors\h to “Control Core Angel”. There, they’re required\h\h to input the spoken password, and the Guardian\h Angel reveals the phrase to them: “I love you.” They speak it and the doors open. The\h Hunters take an elevator down to the core,\h\h where it’s revealed that the Guardian Angel\h was never an AI, she was very much real,\h\h and very much a Siren. Jack had been\h pumping her full of Eridium for years,\h\h using her to charge the Vault Key. Angel asks the\h Hunters to destroy the Eridium injectors keeping\h\h her alive to end her life of servitude. Handsome\h Jack immediately tries to stop them, telling them\h\h to get away from his “daughter,” revealing\h the final secret behind Angel’s identity. Despite Jack’s best defenses (and pleas to his\h daughter), Roland and the Hunters are able to\h\h destroy two of the three Eridium injectors before\h Lilith phases in, defying Roland’s orders to stay\h\h behind. Now with Lilith’s help as well, the\h group are able to destroy the last injector.\h\h Angel falls to the floor, thanking her “friends”\h for finally bringing her suffering to an end.\h\h In her final breath, Angel tells her father\h that he’s an “asshole” before falling lifeless. Roland sends Lilith with the\h Vault Key to return it to Tannis,\h\h but as he plans out their next move,\h he’s suddenly interrupted by the sound\h\h of a gunshot as a bullet pierces his\h chest. Roland falls dead instantly,\h\h as his shooter is revealed to be Handsome Jack,\h enraged and vengeful for his daughter’s death. A broken-hearted Lilith tries to attack\h Jack, but he incapacitates her with an\h\h Eridium-powered collar, taking her and\h intending to use her Siren abilities to\h\h charge the Vault Key now that he’s\h lost Angel. Fortunately, Lilith is\h\h able to temporarily resist his restraint, and\h teleport the Vault Hunters back to Sanctuary. There, they meet back up with Mordecai,\h\h and work with him to discover the\h Vault’s location: in “Hero’s Pass”.\h\h Claptrap then leads the Vault Hunters in their\h final assault on Hyperion’s mining operations\h\h to reach the Vault’s entrance. Brick and Mordecai\h arrive via a stolen Hyperian air-ship to assist,\h\h and the Vault Hunters soon find Handsome Jack\h in the flesh, forcing Lilith to charge the Key. Jack barely gives the Vault Hunters enough\h time for a proper introduction before he\h\h gets to avenging his daughter’s death. A\h battle with the technologically enhanced\h\h programmer then ensues, and while the\h Vault Hunters are able to best Jack\h\h in combat, he nonetheless retrieves the\h now-fully-charged Vault Key and uses it. The Vault then opens, and the Warrior arrives.\h Handsome Jack proudly commands the massive,\h\h ancient beast to kill the Vault Hunters,\h prompting a final, grueling battle. Eventually,\h\h the Vault Hunters are able to repeat\h history, bringing down the biological\h\h Eridian superweapon, killing Handsome\h Jack’s plans along with the creature. In the wake of the battle, a Dying Handsome\h Jack is left in disbelief. At this point,\h\h the Vault Hunters can deliver the final bullet\h to Jack, or allow Lilith to do it as revenge\h\h for Roland’s killing. Either way, Handsome\h Jack’s reign comes to a bloody, tragic close. Lillith then prepares to destroy the Vault\h Key just as Brick and Mordecai catch up\h\h to them. Somehow, instead of breaking\h it, she activates a map of the galaxy,\h\h highlighting multiple locations that the\h group quickly recognize as more Vaults.\h\h Lilith simply proclaims that “there ain’t no\h rest for the wicked”, as the remaining Vault\h\h Hunters realize their work is far from over. After the dust settles in Sanctuary, the Vault\h\h Hunters answer a call from “Oasis”, a resort\h town with no water and one overeager greeter:\h\h a lonely man named Shade. He points them\h toward the legend of Captain Blade’s treasure\h\h
and introduces its most determined hunter:\h Captain Scarlett. She proposes a partnership\h\h to reassemble Blade’s broken compass,\h the only thing that points to the stash.
The Hunters scour the desert:wrestling a piece\h from the pirate lord Sandman at Hayter’s Folly,\h\h prying another out of the ship graveyard in the\h Rustyards with “help” from Scarlett’s unsettling\h\h fan Herbert, and recovering the rest from rival\h crews. With the compass complete, its beam locks\h\h onto Magnys Lighthouse… and that’s Scarlett’s cue\h to betray them and sprint for the prize herself. The trail ends at the “X,” which wakes a\h colossal Leviathan that swallows everyone\h\h whole. Inside the beast, Scarlett makes\h her last play (unleashing her pet Roscoe),\h\h but the Vault Hunters cut through, escape, and\h slay the Leviathan in the sands above. With\h\h the guardian dead, Blade’s treasure room\h opens. Scarlett slips away empty-handed,\h\h the Vault Hunters leave Oasis richer,\h and Shade… remains desperate for company.\h Elsewhere, Dr. Patricia Tannis discovers\h another Vault sitting in the heart of a crater,\h\h and Mr. Torgue High-Five Flexington turns it into\h a pay-per-view tournament at the “Badass Crater\h\h of Badassitude”. Current “champion” Piston\h tries to rig the bracket by sabotaging the\h\h Vault Hunters’ attempt, but Torgue quietly backs\h their comeback and sends them to get a sponsor. That sponsor is Mad Moxxi, who (along with their\h new “trainer”, Tiny Tina) helps them climb the\h\h ranks. They incinerate Pyro Pete, out-brawl Motor\h Momma, and chase the bratty Flyboy to The Forge\h\h(only for Piston to blow Flyboy up himself from\h a blimp). The Vault Hunters return fire, drop\h\h the blimp, and meet Piston in the arena alongside\h his centerpiece: the flamethrowing Badassasaurus. They scrap the dinosaur-tank, beat Piston fair and\h square, and the crater’s Vault finally responds:\h\h“opened” not by an ancient horror, but\h by a lootsplosion that showers the new\h\h champs. Torgue screams approval and the Vault\h Hunters leave with trophies (and tinnitus).\h Sometime later, Sir Hammerlock invites the\h Vault Hunters to the continent of Aegrus\h\h for a proper hunt. Instead, they\h stumble into Professor Nakayama,\h\h a Hyperion scientist so obsessed with\h Handsome Jack that he’s been mutating\h\h the local wildlife and riling up the island’s\h locals in an attempt to carry on Jack’s legacy. The Hunters dismantle labs and destroy\h samples of Jack’s DNA Nakayama plans to\h\h use to clone the late CEO before facing\h the doctor’s masterpiece: Jackenstein,\h\h an Eridium-charged Pandora wildlife\h creature spliced with Jack’s DNA. They tear it down and storm Nakayama’s\h base aboard the crashed HMS Terminus.\h\h In a final “showdown,” the professor trips\h down the stairs and snaps his own neck before\h\h the fight can even start… a pathetically\h fitting end to his equally pathetic plan. Hammerlock snags a few trophies, Aegrus calms,\h and the crew heads out. Among Nakayama’s notes,\h\h though, are hints of a digital recreation\h of Handsome Jack… hinting that perhaps the\h\h world hasn’t seen the last of him. Back in Sanctuary, Tiny Tina runs a\h\h“Bunkers & Badasses” tabletop role-playing game\h session for Brick, Mordecai, and Lilith to lift\h\h spirits after Roland’s death. Inside Tina’s\h campaign, the Vault Hunters defend Flamerock\h\h Refuge, clash with the Handsome Sorcerer, and\h follow a mysterious White Knight who’s revealed,\h\h painfully, as Tina’s way of keeping Roland in\h the story, as she refuses to accept his death. Tina riffs, rewrites, and retcons (with\h cameos from the likes of Claptrap, Moxxi,\h\h and Mr. Torgue) until the party storms Dragon\h Keep. They’re able to defeat the Sorcerer’s\h\h Dragon, facing the Handsome one directly.\h After a fierce battle, the party defeats the\h\h Sorcerer (with some help from Bloodwing).\h Afterwards, they free the realm’s queen\h\h(Handsome Jack's diamond pony, Butt Stallion,\h naturally) and bring light back to the land. Outside the story, Lilith gently speaks\h the truth, and Tina finally admits she\h\h knows Roland is gone. As the campaign comes\h to a close, Maya arrives with good news:\h\h a spy they caught has provided access to the\h Hyperion’s moon base, Helios. The group then\h\h erect statues of Bloodwing and Roland to honor\h their sacrifices, and Tiny Tina hugs them goodbye.\h This isn’t Tiny Tina’s only Bunkers &\h Badasses campaign, however. Sometime later,\h\h Tina takes up her Bunker Master mantle once\h again; this time roping in a new party of players:\h\h Valentine (a dashing but somewhat washed-up\h space pirate), his rule-obsessed robot companion\h\h Frette, a and a “Newbie” who’s playing their\h first campaign, all eager for some high-fantasy\h\h Pandoran adventure. Together, this new party dive\h into Tina’s latest odyssey in the Wonderlands. The quest kicks off with the group\h facing off against the evil Dragon Lord,\h\h a skeletal necromancer, just moments away\h from defeating him when he pulls a last-second\h\h trick. The Dragon Lord summons an\h undead horde to delay his demise,\h\h only to be thwarted by the sudden arrival of\h her majesty Queen Butt Stallion, brandishing the\h\h legendary Sword of Souls (souls souls souls).\h With one mighty magical blast, Butt Stallion\h\h seals the Dragon Lord away for centuries in an\h arcane prison, saving the day… at least for now. With the exposition out of the way, Tina then\h starts the campaign’s main story, officially\h\h
anointing the Newbie as the “Fatemaker”:\h the fated hero of her Wonderlands narrative. The Fatemaker’s journey begins\h in the peaceful Snoring Valley,\h\h but takes a turn when the party are\h confronted by skeleton soldiers,\h\h led by “Ribula”, who aims to resurrect the\h Dragon Lord. While the party defeats Ribula,\h\h the Dragon Lord is nonetheless released\h from his imprisonment before escaping. Hoping to warn Queen Butt Stallion of\h the Dragon Lord’s escape, the party\h\h head to the capital city of Brighthoof.\h Unfortunately, they arrive too late,\h\h as they find it already under siege by the Dragon\h Lord’s skeletal army. Fighting alongside Paladin\h\h Mike (the head of the Queen’s “Diamond Guard”),\h the party beats back the horde and saves the town. In the wake of the battle, Queen Butt Stallion\h herself arrives to personally task the Fatemaker\h\h with retrieving the Sword of Souls from\h the Shattergrave Barrow. After fighting and\h\h defeating the nagging spirit of the “Zomboss”,\h Queen Butt Stallion reveals the Sword of Souls,\h\h which the Fatemaker obtains, using it\h to capture the soul of the Zomboss. The Fatemaker then takes the\h Sword of Souls back to Brighthoof,\h\h placing it into a pedestal on the city square’s\h fountain. Soul energy releases from the Sword,\h\h repairing all of the damage\h done by the Skeleton army. Paladin Mike informs the Fatemaker that\h the Queen wishes to Knight them for their\h\h actions. They return to the city square, but\h the celebration is cut short as the Dragon Lord\h\h arrives and takes the Sword of Souls, quickly\h wielding it to behead Queen Butt Stallion,\h\h killing her instantly. Taking the Queen’s\h head and the Sword of Souls with him,\h\h the Dragon Lord vanishes just\h as quickly as he appeared. The Fatemaker rushes off to search for him,\h spotting his citadel, the “Fearamid” (get it),\h\h across the ocean awakening with his return.\h Paladin Mike fears that with the Sword, the Dragon\h\h Lord will be able to take the soul energy of\h every living being in the Wonderlands, prompting\h\h the Fatemaker and their party to begin their\h journey across the sea to reach the Fearamid. They commandeer a… ship… but the Dockmaster\h informs them that in order to cross the\h\h cursed sea, they’ll need to get their\h vessel blessed by a bard. The party fight\h\h through Tina’s encounters to reach the “Weepwild\h Dankness”, where they meet the bard: Mr. Torgue. The party take Torgue back to their ship,\h fighting the “Banshee” on the way and freeing\h\h the “Fairy Punchfather” (Brick). At the docks,\h Mr. Torque leads a jam session to free them of\h\h their bad vibes. Tiny Tina forces Valentine and\h Frette to come to terms with their differing\h\h playstyles (with Valentine wanting to break\h the rules while Frette strictly follows them). With their understanding and\h teamwork stronger than ever,\h\h Torque gets overpowered by the positive vibes.\h He accidentally summons a magic missile,\h\h which launches towards the\h waters and… blows up the ocean. The group then continues on foot through the\h dried, but still slightly damp crater that used to\h\h be the ocean. On their way, they assist a friendly\h skeleton pirate named Bones Three-Wood reassemble\h\h his crew and find his ship, the Marley Maiden.\h They then fight the mighty Captain Chartreuse\h\h LeChance, who holds a grudge against Bones for\h turning them all undead, eventually defeating\h\h him in battle. Chartreuse gives Bones a LeChance,\h and the Fatemaker is able to continue their quest. They then come across Ksara, a priestess of the\h hostile “Coiled” race, who is seemingly friendly,\h\h and allows them passage through the Drowned\h Abyss. When they enter the Temple of Sacrifice,\h\h however, the party fully expects Ksara\h to double cross them. They then find her,\h\h and she… doesn’t; instead offering to join\h the party to help them. Unfortunately,\h\h she speaks a forbidden word, forcing Tina\h to cause Ksara to spontaneously combust. After a fight through the massive “Dry’l”, the\h party meet the “Wastard”: a ghost whose body\h\h they proceed to help recover. Unfortunately, the\h Dragon Lord takes control of the Wastard’s body,\h\h forcing them into a battle to exercise\h him from it. In the wake of the battle,\h\h the Wastard finally resurrects into his own\h body, and repairs the favor by giving them the\h\h ability to dispel the Dragon Lord’s protective\h hexes (at the cost of part of their souls). The party soon reach “Ossu-Gol Necropolis”,\h meeting a friendly survivor named the “Elder”\h\h who leads them to the Hall of Heroes, which\h they must pass through to reach the Fearamid.\h\h As Tiny Tina sends them through fatal\h obstacle courses, the Dragon Lord begins to\h\h speak directly to the Fatemaker, mentioning\h other “Fatemakers” that came before them,\h\h hinting that they’re just playthings\h for Tina to use and dispose of. When the party reaches the Hall of Heroes,\h they’re met with a living nightmare… literally.\h\h
The “Knight Mare” then appears:a mechanical\h abomination with Queen Butt Stallion’s head\h\h affixed on top. After a brutal fight, the\h Fatemaker is able to defeat the abomination. As Tina reminds the players that the\h Knight Mare was the Dragon Lord’s doing,\h\h he finally has enough. The Dragon Lord\h then pulls the Fatemaker into a vision,\h\h revealing the truth behind his creation. As it\h turns out, he was originally the “Dragon Knight”,\h\h a character created by Tiny Tina during\h her very first game of Bunkers & Badasses,\h\h where she was taught to play\h by her old friend Roland. However, during the game, Tina’s lack of\h forethought causes her to make the Dragon\h\h Knight unleash the full power of the Sword of\h Souls, turning him into the evil Dragon Lord.\h\h Tina, frustrated, simply quit the game and refused\h\h to play again unless she could be the\h Bunker Master to ensure the heroes win. The Dragon Lord then rejects “masters,” dice,\h and destiny; insisting that he isn’t evil,\h\h just written that way by Tina. He\h then dares the Fatemaker to prove\h\h that choice still exists, retreating to\h the Fearamid to await the final battle. The party climb to his citadel, fighting through\h the defenses to eventually reach the Dragon Lord’s\h\h tank of souls. They break it open, unleashing all\h of the souls he had captive, including that of his\h\h long lost love, Bernadette, whom he planned\h to resurrect the whole time (what a twist!). The Dragon Lord rejects this, pointing out\h that he doesn’t even know a Bernadette,\h\h further exemplifying Tina’s puppet-mastering.\h The Dragon Lord collects the unleashed souls\h\h into the Sword, and awaits the\h hero to finish their journey. The final battle then commences atop the\h Fearamid. The Dragon Lord makes his own entrance,\h\h free from Tina’s control, and attempts to make\h the party roll new characters. After an epic duel,\h\h the Dragon Lord falls to his knees, lamenting\h his failed attempt to decide his own fate. He\h\h hands over the Sword of Souls, telling\h the Fatemaker to finish the quest. Tiny Tina once again encourages her\h hero to unleash the full power of the\h\h Sword (egged on by Valentine and Frette). Instead,\h\h the Fatemaker decides to stop letting fate divide\h them, and instead let it bring them together. They then use the power inside of the Sword\h of Souls not to strike down the Dragon Lord,\h\h but to instead revive the\h majestic Queen Butt Stallion.\h\h In an ending Tiny Tina couldn’t even\h imagine, the party of Valentine,\h\h Frette, and the brand new player prove\h to be too strong for simply a one-shot. The Dragon Lord is stripped of his\h power and imprisoned (but allowed to\h\h remain in the story). The Fatemaker then\h returns to Brighthoof’s fountain square,\h\h where they kneel before the revived Queen\h Butt Stallion, who finally knights them. As they celebrate with Paladin Mike and the\h townsfolk, the campaign comes to a close,\h\h but that’s not all Bunker\h Master Tina has up her sleeve.\h Sometime later, Valentine and Frette rejoin\h at the table with Sir Hammerlock taking the\h\h Fatemaker’s place as Tiny Tina runs a new campaign\h in the Wonderlands. Before the game kicks off,\h\h Valentine learns that Tina’s stories are a way\h for her to imagine she has friends her age,\h\h as Tina’s searches for real ones in the\h Borderlands have thus far been fruitless. While Claptrap tries to join the party, they\h refuse, taking on Tiny Tina’s new campaign,\h\h eventually reaching the town of Boomstone. There,\h they meet "Sheriff Mr. Torgue”, who gives them a\h\h job to hunt down “Hilly the Kid”, a giant who’s\h been wreaking havoc. Luckily, the group are able\h\h to find Hilly’s digital diary to try to figure out\h his motives and next moves. Unfortunately… Tina\h\h casts Claptrap to play the role of this diary. After sending the party through several\h\h sugar-induced side-quests, Tina introduces Ellie\h into the story, who gives the players a means\h\h of traversal with her “Catch-A-Wyvern” system. With no more of the good snacks left, Tina fast\h\h forwards the plot to the encounter with Hilly the\h Kid. The group’s attacks don’t phase the giant,\h\h until Mr. Torgue shows up to have a “banjo\h battle”, knocking Hilly down. The music comforts\h\h Hilly, who admits that he doesn’t understand why\h nobody will listen to him, or why they can’t just\h\h let him be a kid. It becomes clear that Tina’s\h expressing her own feelings through the story. The players comfort Tina, and she slyly\h uses the distraction to allow Hilly the\h\h Kid to surprise attack the party in-game. The\h party retreats, and the group calls it a day. Later that night, Valentine and Frette sneak\h into Tiny Tina’s room with some dolls based on\h\h the characters in her Wonderlands while she’s\h asleep. Valentine whispers that just because\h\h she doesn’t have anyone around her own age,\h that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have people who\h\h still love to be her friend. As they leave, Tina\h opens her eyes to reveal she was only pretending\h\h to sleep, snuggling her presents and quietly\h telling her friends that she loves them too.\h Sometime later, aboard Hyperion’s Helios\h space station, we find Rhys Strongfork,\h\h an employee working his way up the ranks along\h with his best friend Vaughn. Rhys, who dreams\h\h of being the next Handsome Jack, walks towards his\h boss’s office to receive a hard-earned promotion. As he enters, however, Rhys is shocked to\h instead find Hugo Vasquez, his long-time rival.\h\h The corpse of Rhys’s former boss then\h floats by the window out to space,\h\h revealing that Hugo has taken his position, much\h to Rhys’s dismay. Hugo tells him not to worry,\h\h however, as his promotion is still coming. Their conversation is quickly cut short, however,\h when Vasquez receives a call regarding the\h\h purchase of a Vault Key, which Rhys is able\h to overhear thanks to his ECHO eye implant.\h\h After the call wraps up, Vasquez then announces\h Rhys’s promotion to: Assistant Vice…Janitor. Rhys exits the disappointing meeting to inform\h Vaughn and their friend and fellow co-worker\h\h Yvette of his new position. He further\h reveals Vasquez’s plan to buy a Vault Key,\h\h and the group decide to beat him to the punch\h by purchasing it first. Thankfully, Vaughn is an\h\h accountant and is able to move around ten million\h dollars to make the deal. Rhys then commandeers a\h\h car Vasquez ordered for himself to drive himself\h and Vaughn to Prosperity Junction on Pandora. Meanwhile, in the Pandora city of Hollow Point,\h two sisters named Fiona and Sasha steal and\h\h smuggle to get by. Along with their mentor and\h father-figure, Felix, the pair are secretly behind\h\h the Vault Key sale. As it turns out, the Vault Key\h is a forgery crafted by Felix, and they intend on\h\h selling it to Hyperion through their associate, a\h fence named August (whom Sasha is also “dating”). Fiona poses as an archaeologist named Lidia\h Strauss during a meeting with August, claiming\h\h to have discovered the Vault Key on Eden-6.\h After Fiona puts on a convincing performance,\h\h August agrees to conduct the deal, allowing Sasha\h to hold the key. After August leaves with Sasha,\h\h Felix and Fiona secretly follow in their caravan. In Prosperity Junction, Rhys and\h Vaughn attempt to find their seller,\h\h but unfortunately run into some anti-Hyperion\h bandits instead. Yvette provides remote support,\h\h sending in a Hyperion Loader Bot to provide\h combat assistance by taking out the opposition. Unfortunately, one of the bandits spots\h the briefcase of money and grabs it,\h\h stealing Vasquez’s car and driving off.\h Unfortunately, the case is handcuffed to Vaughn,\h\h and he gets dragged along. Rhys chases the\h car, commanding Loader Boat to retrieve it.\h\h He’s then stopped by some bandits, whom he\h fights with a stun baton provided by Yvette. Rhys finds Loader Boat with the car, and\h Rhys has him put it down, rescuing Vaughn.\h\h Loader Bot then helps them reach the\h“World of Curiosities,” before Rhys\h\h is given the option to tell Loader Bot\h to retreat or stick around to sacrifice\h\h himself fighting bandit reinforcements\h(only to be replaced by another later). Whatever the case, Rhys and a very shaken\h Vaughn continue into the World of Curiosities,\h\h finding it full of exhibits dedicated\h to Pandora. Amongst them, morbidly,\h\h are the corpses of its late inhabitants, including\h characters we’ve seen up to this point: such as\h\h bandit brother Bewm, lonely Oasis dweller Shade,\h Siren-turned-zombie-thing Commandant Steele,\h\h and Hyperion Professor Nakayama (who was\h obsessed with cloning Handsome Jack). Rhys snags Nakayama’s Hyperion badge, hoping it\h will come in handy later. When they notice Shade’s\h\h corpse goes missing, they’re relieved to find\h that he’s not undead… just weird. Rhys informs him\h\h that they’re there for the deal, and Shade takes\h them to meet with the seller: a man named August. August, who’s there with his girlfriend,\h Sasha, initially distrusts Rhys and Vaughn,\h\h as he was expecting the deal\h to be with Vasquez. However,\h\h when he shows the Vault Key, and they show the\h cash, August proceeds with the transaction. Sasha then puts a stop to it instead, exclaiming\h that she’s got a bad feeling. Rhys tries to reason\h\h with her, explaining that they showed up instead\h of Vaughn simply to screw him over. The idea\h\h of sticking it to a Hyperion stooge is enough\h for her, and Sasha changes her mind. Secretly,\h\h this is all a ruse to give Fiona enough time to\h secretly plant an EMP device onto the Vault Key’s\h\h container from inside of a nearby vent, just in\h case Rhys tries to scan it with his ECHO Eye. However, with things just being too strange\h at this point, August cancels the deal. Rhys\h\h is given the option to blow his mind or break\h his heart… but either way simply begs August\h\h to reconsider the deal, which he does when\h he remembers it’s for ten million dollars. As Rhys goes to scan the Vault Key,\h the still hidden Fiona activates the\h\h EMP so he won’t be able to detect\h that it’s a fake. Unfortunately,\h\h the shock causes him to drop the Key, which\h shatters into pieces as it hits the floor. Before Rhys can even react to it being fake,\h however, the meeting is literally crashed by\h\h a bandit leader named “Bossanova”, who’s\h being followed by Zer0 (the assassin from\h\h the group of Vault Hunters who took down\h Handsome Jack). Zer0 presses Bossanova\h\h for the location of something he’s looking\h for, but the bandit claims ignorance and\h\h takes the briefcase of money instead, driving\h off as Zer0 is distracted with other bandits. Felix arrives, but winds up accidentally shot by\h August. Sasha grabs him, and Fiona joins them to\h\h escape to their caravan. There, they find Rhys and\h Vaughn trying to hotwire it to follow Bossanova.\h\h August, furious about being lied to, follows,\h firing his pistol, forcing Felix to drive off. In the caravan, Rhys and Vaughn propose a\h shaky alliance with Felix, Sasha, and Fiona:\h\h they can follow the briefcase via a tracker\h chip in exchange for letting them live. Rhys calls Yvette to try to\h get her to track the money,\h\h but she informs him that his stunt has put all\h of their IDs on lockdown. With no other choice,\h\h Rhys remembers Nakayama’s ID and decides\h to see if his security clearance is still\h\h active. Rhys then inserts into his\h head and… immediately passes out. In his unconsciousness, Rhys hears\h a familiar voice expressing his\h\h disappointment, asking if he “thought\h[he] could follow in [his] footsteps”. When Rhys awakens, he exits the caravan to find\h the rest of the group looking over a bandit\h\h stronghold at an abandoned Atlas warehouse.\h As they scope it out, Zer0 arrives and begins\h\h to take out bandits himself before running\h inside. The group find an alternate way in,\h\h and Felix stays behind with the caravan as he\h reminds Fiona and Sasha to not trust anyone. While Rhys devises an amazing plan to get inside,\h\h the others stroll over to a maintenance hatch\h and open it. Rhys and Sasha enter first,\h\h but Fiona and Vaughn are forced to quickly\h close the hatch as a bandit notices them. The bandit asks if the pair are drivers, and\h they bluff that they are. He then leads them\h\h to a choice of masks they can buy to wear during\h the race that they’re apparently doing now. The\h\h pair don their masks and are given a vehicle,\h learning on their way to the race that the prize\h\h for the upcoming competition is the Hyperion\h briefcase (which Vaughn reveals is holding a\h\h secret bomb tied to his DNA signature, so\h it’s useless to whoever wins it anyway). Rhys and Sasha, meanwhile, follow the GPS tracker\h in the briefcase, eventually spotting some bandits\h\h carrying up an elevator. The pair work together\h to take down a pair of guards before Rhys hacks\h\h the lift controls while Sasha guilts him for\h his connection to Hyperion. Regardless, she’s\h\h impressed by his stun baton, asking him if she can\h borrow it (a decision that’s left to him to make). Once Rhys gets the lift working, he and Sasha\h take it up as well, and Zer0 surprisingly joins\h\h them (saving them from some released skags).\h Zer0 then reveals that he’s searching for\h\h something called a “Gortys core,” and the others\h agree to let him know if they come across one. Rhys, Sasha, and Zer0 then find themselves\h emerging onto the center of the track where\h\h a deadly race is about to begin. Zer0\h shoots the case out of Bossanova’s hands,\h\h and he announces an additional bounty on the\h assassin’s head (adding to the spectacle at hand). As the mayhem begins, Rhys finally gets a\h call from Vasquez, who explains that while\h\h he knows what happened with the Vault\h Key, if Rhys brings back the money,\h\h he’ll get his old job back. However,\h the deal comes with one condition:\h\h blaming the whole thing on Vaughn. Rhys\h refuses, so Hugo sweetens the deal by\h\h adding half of the money to the pot, leaving\h the decision to take the deal up to Rhys. In one of the coolest sequences\h in a game I’ve ever experienced,\h\h the briefcase bounces between Rhys and\h Sasha fighting a skag with Zer0’s sword\h\h to a brutal death race involving Vaughn and Fiona.\h Ultimately, however, it winds up in Felix’s hands,\h\h as he arrives in the caravan just in\h time to catch it while it’s in the air. Fiona grabs onto the caravan and enters,\h initially excited by Felix’s arrival. However,\h\h she immediately can tell that his demeanor\h has shifted. As Fiona gets closer to him,\h\h Felix grabs the case and pulls his\h pistol on her. The distraction causes\h\h Felix to crash the caravan, knocking Fiona down. While the vehicle is stuck, Felix grabs\h the briefcase and prepares to leave,\h\h reminding Fiona that he told her to never trust\h anyone. Seeing it as a lesson to teach her,\h\h Felix leaves her behind, taking all\h of the money with him. At this point,\h\h Fiona has the decision to warn Felix about\h the bomb Vaughn informed her of within the\h\h case (causing him to escape without opening it,\h at least until he can disarm it). Otherwise,\h\h she can shoot him, or simply allow him to open the\h case, telling him to “choke on it” as it explodes. Zer0 then kills the Bossanova once and for all,\h\h calling Mad Moxxi to inform her that the Gortys\h wasn’t with him. Vaughn and Rhys reunite,\h\h while Sasha refuses to talk to Fiona about\h Felix’s betrayal. Another reunion occurs\h\h when Loader Bot discovers their location\h and arrives, landing hard on the track. The force from Loader Bot’s landing causes the\h ground to shift, and Rhys falls through a hole\h\h into an underground facility of some sort.\h There, he stumbles upon Atlas prototypes,\h\h catching the others’ interests, who\h immediately jump down. Sasha finds a gun,\h\h Vaughn finds a watch, and Rhys and Fiona find two\h strange pieces of metal that seem to fit together. As they go to leave, the two pieces are\h pulled together and connect mid-air. The\h\h“Gortys Project” is then revealed, as the device\h projects a hologram of a map. The voice in Rhys’s\h\h head returns, informing him that the Gortys\h Project will lead them to a vault, before a\h\h
projection of the voice’s owner:Handsome Jack,\h appears before Vaughn, reborn through Nakayama’s\h\h AI awakening within Rhys’s ECHO Eye implant. To the others, it appears as if Rhys has just seen\h\h a ghost, as he goes completely silent and runs\h off. The Gortys core then falls to the ground,\h\h splitting in two once again. As the others try\h to pick it up, they’re shocked, revealing that\h\h the two pieces are now genetically linked to\h those who first touched them: Rhys and Fiona. After finding an Atlas computer locked\h by a retina scanner, Fiona removes the\h\h eye from the corpse of an Atlas military\h general… at least she thinks it’s a corpse;\h\h she later learns that his body is only suspended.\h No matter, she uses the eye on the computer to\h\h unlock a video message from Athena recorded\h from the Atlas mining town of Old Haven,\h\h which Fiona figures would be the perfect place\h to hide more information on the “Gortys Project”. Meanwhile, Rhys “speaks” with the\h Handsome Jack AI away from the group,\h\h who’s having trouble coming to terms with his\h new, non-corporeal form. Rhys bumps his head,\h\h making Jack disappear, just as Helios\h starts firing moonshots towards them. Loader Bot carries them back to the\h caravan, and the group drive off,\h\h with Rhys using his ECHO Eye to dodge\h the shots while Fiona fights off Pandora\h\h wildlife. While Rhys is able to maneuver the\h shots into destroying a massive creature,\h\h he and Vaughn are soon thrown from the\h caravan, separating them from the sisters. Stranded in the desert, Rhys starts\h to see Handsome Jack again, and he’s\h\h given the choice to confide in Vaughn\h about his new AI companion. Regardless,\h\h the “trio” soon spot a vehicle flying down\h from Helios, believing it to be Yvette. Unfortunately, Hugo Vasquez emerges from it\h instead, carrying a gun and seemingly prepared to\h\h use it. Hugo mentions the deal he offered, which\h was either taken by Rhys, or if he refused it, by\h\h Vaughn (though he claims he only said what Vasquez\h wanted to hear to keep him off their backs). Either way, Hugo gives each of the pair a shovel\h and tells them to start digging their own graves.\h\h Luckily, the pair are rescued by Loader Bot,\h who carries them away to safety. In the air,\h\h the pair decide whether they should go to Hollow\h Point to regroup with Sasha and Fiona right away,\h\h or get a headstart and go straight\h to Old Haven to wait for them there. Speaking of Sasha and Fiona, they find\h themselves in a small town on Pandora,\h\h where they find a garage owned by Scooter, who\h Fiona is able to convince to fix their caravan.\h\h As he starts, a couple of bounty hunters\h rough up Scooter looking for the sisters,\h\h but he doesn’t give them up, instead warning\h them to lay low while he fixes their ride. Luckily, Felix’s safehouse is nearby, so Fiona\h and Sasha head there. Inside, they find a message\h\h recorded for them from Felix. In it, he apologizes\h to them, explaining that halfway through the job,\h\h he realized the people they were working with had\h connections to a dangerous ganglord named Vallory,\h\h leading to his “betrayal” to sever\h ties with them. While Fiona believes\h\h that Felix was only trying to protect them\h from this “Vallory”, Sasha has her doubts. Fiona then finds gifts Felix left for\h each of his pupils. Hers, she finds,\h\h is an upgrade for her pistol. Sasha’s,\h if Fiona decides to secretly take a peek,\h\h is a pocket-watch with “Time heals all\h wounds” inscribed on it. Either way,\h\h Sasha has no interest in taking the gift,\h leaving Fiona to hold onto it for now. The pair are then interrupted when the men looking\h for them barge in: a pair of bounty hunters named\h\h Kroger and Finch. The pair are able to escape\h when Fiona uses her new pistol upgrade while\h\h Sasha uses a frying pan, giving them a chance\h to rush out into the alley. There, however,\h\h
they’re chased by a different hunter:Athena,\h who arrives and attempts to capture them as well. If Rhys and Vaughn decided to\h regroup before going to Old Haven,\h\h Loader Bot comes to the sisters’ rescue who\h takes them back to Scooter’s garage. There,\h\h the group reunites before leaving\h towards Old Haven in their fixed ride. Otherwise, the sisters reach the garage\h just before Athena can catch them. Inside,\h\h they meet Janey Springs, just as Athena enters.\h Janey surprisingly greets Athena as “hun” before\h\h giving her a kiss, introducing her as her\h girlfriend. Athena denies chasing them,\h\h as Janey made her promise to stop bounty\h hunting… anyway, Sasha and Fiona retrieve\h\h the caravan and head to Old Haven (potentially\h snagging Athena’s dropped shield on the way). Regardless of whether Rhys and Vaughn went to Old\h Haven alone or with the sisters, they discover\h\h a hidden underground Atlas facility dedicated to\h the Gortys Project. Inside, they find the corpses\h\h of Crimson Lance soldiers before August and\h Vasquez arrive in tow to hold them at gunpoint. They try to command Loader Bot to attack,\h but seem to forget that he’s Hyperion tech,\h\h which Vasquez is able to power\h down. Vasquez then slaps Rhys,\h\h awakening the Handsome Jack AI again. Vasquez\h takes Jack with his half of the Gortys core,\h\h while August takes Fiona with\h hers down opposite hallways. At either end, they’re each forced to insert their\h half of the core into a terminal. The doors lock\h\h and the terminals come together, assembling\h the Gortys Project: a metal ball. The security\h\h
systems activate, and Rhys is given a dire choice:\h allow Fiona to take charge by throwing a grenade,\h\h or have the Jack AI hack the security systems.\h Either way, the security bots are disabled.\h No matter who Rhys chose to trust, he and\h Fiona take the metal ball and descend down a\h\h maintenance hatch. They sneak past August’s men,\h but are soon found and captured by Loader Bot,\h\h still under Vasquez’s control. Thankfully,\h Fiona and Vaughn are able to destroy the\h\h remote control device and break free,\h with Loader Bot back on their side. When Vaughn is shocked by one of the\h facility’s security bots, his entire body\h\h is left frozen and paralyzed. Sasha regroups\h with them, and after some clever teamwork,\h\h they’re able to create an exit before\h Loader Bot carries everyone outside. There, they find a different group of bandits\h waiting for them, causing Loader Bot to crash.\h\h Fiona drops the metal ball and it rolls before\h it’s stopped by the leader of the outfit:\h\h Vallory. Kroger and Finch arrive, still\h bitter over their last interaction,\h\h but Vallory stops them, electing\h to speak with Fiona instead. August and Vasquez then arrive, and Vallory asks\h Fiona which one of them is to blame for fumbling\h\h the task. Fiona can decide who to point the\h finger at, but if she chooses August, she learns\h\h that he is none other than Vallory’s son, and she\h disappointingly pulls the ring out of his nose. Regardless, with the Gortys Project obtained,\h Vallory realizes she doesn’t need Vasquez any\h\h longer, and shockingly grabs his gun before\h firing it directly at him at point blank,\h\h splattering Hugo’s life onto\h the concrete before the group. As Vallory prepares to eliminate\h the others as well, however,\h\h Athena arrives in the nick of time to take down\h Vallory and her crew, forcing them to retreat.\h\h Athena then reveals that the contract\h she took wasn’t to kill Sasha and Fiona,\h\h but instead to help them. As it turns\h out, Felix was the one who hired her,\h\h hoping she could pass down some of her skills and\h train the sisters to harness their full potential. Fiona then locates the “on” button on the metal\h ball, and it announces that an energy chassis is\h\h required for the “Vault of the Traveler\h Protocol” before Gortys is activated.\h\h The metal ball sprouts arms and a face,\h and “Gortys” is revealed to be a robot\h\h with a chipper personality,\h and she quickly greets them. Gortys explains that she was created by Atlas\h as a latch ditch effort to find a Vault. She\h\h then points the group (now including Athena)\h towards the location of the energy chassis,\h\h and they hop in the caravan to take\h off on this new leg of their adventure. Gortys leads them to another Atlas facility,\h and inside they’re shocked to find a researcher,\h\h Dr. Cassius LeClemaine (claiming to be a drifter),\h\h residing there. He helps them deliver an antidote\h to Vaughn to get him control over his body again\h\h before showing them the location of\h Gortys’s upgrade within the facility. Unfortunately, the group has to get past an\h automated security system first. Rhys and\h\h Sasha go to shut down the security system, while\h Fiona and Athena head off to retrieve the upgrade.\h\h Rhys and Sasha share a tender moment, and Athena\h shows Fiona how to fight like a real Vault Hunter. Using General Pollux’s eye, Fiona and Athena enter\h the room holding the Gortys chassis upgrade. Rhys\h\h hacks into the security, learning that Cassius\h is actually an Atlas employee. Fiona is able\h\h to grab the chassis upgrade, and returns\h with Athena back to Vaughn and Cassius. Vaughn reveals that he learned the Vault Atlas\h was searching for is called the “Vault of the\h\h Traveler", named such because it teleports all\h over the universe. Rhys and Sasha then arrive,\h\h
and share their own revelation:\h that Cassius works for Atlas. Athena immediately snaps upon leading\h this, still holding a grudge against\h\h the corporation over her sister’s death. While\h Cassius accepts his fate, Athena is suddenly\h\h interrupted by a large man bursting into the\h room: Brick, who grabs her and carries her away. At the same time, Vallory arrives\h and fires a rocket towards them,\h\h blasting the rest of the group to the\h ground. Rhys is knocked out in the blast,\h\h and awakens to find the Handsome\h Jack AI joining him again. Vallory’s men grab Rhys and she demands the\h Gortys bot, which they soon find strapped to the\h\h Loader Bot. August and the others strip off Loader\h Bot’s limbs to free Gortys, but Vaughn springs to\h\h action and grabs Vallory. Gortys breaks free and\h runs off, leaving August and Rhys to chase her. Meanwhile, Fiona has another run-in with\h Finch and Kroger over the chassis upgrade.\h\h Sasha comes to her aid, and the pair are\h able to scrap their way to defeating the\h\h bounty hunters and reacquiring\h the upgrade. Loader Bot arrives,\h\h or at least his top half, and Sasha\h goes with him to help Rhys catch Gortys. Loader Bot grabs Rhys and they chase\h August’s truck while pursuing Gortys.\h\h During the ensuing struggle, August grabs the\h chassis upgrade, but as he holds it in the air,\h\h Gortys is able to magnetically snatch it from\h him, using it to upgrade to her new form with\h\h fully functioning legs. Unfortunately,\h their one weakness is soon exploited\h\h when two tripwires are thrown in front\h of Gortys, forcing her to trip and fall. Meanwhile, Athena fights with\h Brick as Fiona arrives to assist.\h\h Suddenly, the pair are pinned down by sniper\h gunfire, and Fiona spots Mordecai, who tells\h\h her that this is “Vault Hunter business” (allowing\h her to retort that she herself is a Vault Hunter,\h\h starting her own legend). Vallory then\h arrives, and despite Fiona’s best efforts,\h\h she hands over Athena to Brick and\h Mordecai, who proceed to take her away. Vallory, meanwhile, has the rest of\h the group captive, including Gortys,\h\h who she threatens in order to give up the location\h of her last upgrade, so they can complete her\h\h and find the Vault. Gortys then points to\h the sky, and says “it’s there, on Helios.”\h Brick and Mordecai take Athena to Sanctuary,\h where they’re brought before Lilith.\h\h The siren threatens to kill Athena for\h her hand in Handsome Jack’s rise to power,\h\h holding her partially responsible for\h Roland’s death. Lilith gives her a\h\h chance to give her side of the story, and\h Athena begins to tell the very long tale. Once Athena finishes recounting her story,\h she admits that she regrets working for\h\h Jack. Lilith isn’t moved. She orders her men\h to kill Athena for her part in Jack’s rise,\h\h but as they fire, their bullets\h suddenly fall straight to the group. The strange alien that once aided Colonel\h Zarpedon appears, leaving everyone’s jaws\h\h agape in shock and awe. The figure, known only\h as “The Watcher”, intervenes, revealing its true\h\h nature as one of Pandora’s long-lost Eridians. The\h Watcher warns that now is not the time to bicker,\h\h as an even greater war is on the horizon,\h one that will require every Vault Hunter to\h\h stand together if the planet is to survive. Back in the Atlas facility, Gortys explains\h\h that while the Vault of the Traveler usually\h only stays in one spot for a few minutes before\h\h teleporting again, she can use her final upgrade\h to hold it in one spot so they can access it. Noting the danger of infiltrating the\h Hyperion stronghold, Vallory decides that\h\h she has more use for the rest of the group\h alive than dead. She takes Vaughn hostage,\h\h forcing the group to come up with a plan to\h get the Gortys upgrade for her from Helios. Luckily, Rhys has an inside source,\h and the Handsome Jack AI informs\h\h him that the beacon is inside “his”\h office on Helios. Luckily for them,\h\h Hyperion offers tours of the moonbase, giving\h the “Jack Experience” by showing his old office. Rhys’s plan involves getting a spaceship from\h Scooter for the group to fly up to Helios. There,\h\h he’ll call Yvette to have her let him in,\h where he’ll disable security to allow Fiona\h\h and Sasha to pose as tour guides. When Fiona\h notes that Hyperion currently wants him dead,\h\h Rhys realizes that he can use Hugo’s\h DNA to disguise himself as “Rhys-quez”. Rhys and Vaughn go with Finch and Kroger to\h Old Haven to get Hugo’s body, while August\h\h takes Sasha and Fiona to Hollow Point to talk\h to Scooter. The sisters talk to the mechanic,\h\h but Scooter unfortunately doesn’t know much about\h rockets. He instead points them to his associate:\h\h Janey Springs, who’s a bit out of\h sorts since Athena was captured. Fiona has the opportunity to tell Springs\h that Athena told her she loved her before\h\h Janey agrees to build their rocket. She\h suggests that they bring a mechanic along,\h\h and Scooter excitedly volunteers\h to catch his first ride into space. Rhys, meanwhile, is dumped outside the\h entrance to Old Haven by Finch and Kroger.\h\h He finds Vasquez’s corpse, but unfortunately\h with its face detached. Rhys searches for it,\h\h finding it attached to the mask\h of one of the local psychos. He peels it off, but the psycho (who has\h a bomb strapped to his chest) awakens,\h\h forcing Rhys to run back to Finch and Kroger.\h As the psycho runs past Hugo’s corpse,\h\h Finch shoots the bomb, causing it to explode\h and blast Vasquez’s body into several pieces;\h\h all of which Rhys and Vaughn are forced\h to collect to take back with them. Sasha and Fiona similarly assemble their\h own Hyperion disguises as Rhys uses a\h\h“Quick Change” machine to disguise his\h voice and appearance to match Vasquez. The group launches their rocket into space\h and gazes upon the planet of Pandora once\h\h they reach orbit. As their craft approaches\h Helios, they collide with the still floating\h\h body of Vasquez’s predecessor.\h It’s sucked into the ship’s vent,\h\h and Scooter has Fiona push the ship’s thrusters\h past their limit so they can reach Helios. The ship’s rockets become unstable, forcing\h Scooter and Fiona to do a spacewalk to detach\h\h them. Fiona takes care of one rocket, while\h Scooter focuses on the other. Unfortunately,\h\h while trying to detach his, Scooter gets\h his hand stuck in the rocket. He asks a\h\h tearfilled Fiona to cut his rocket loose, and she\h reluctantly does so after saying her goodbyes. As the rocket drifts away, Scooter asks his\h friends to tell Ellie and Moxxi that he died\h\h doing something awesome, before shouting his\h catchphrase one last time: “Catch a ride!” The\h\h rocket, at a safe distance away, then explodes,\h taking with it the first casualty of the mission. The rest of the group pay honor to Scooter however\h they see fit, but as they begin to dock on Helios,\h\h Yvette is unreachable, forcing Rhys to pose as\h Vasquez. Rhys-quez steps onto the spaceport with\h\h Vasquez’s body parts, claiming them to be\h Rhys’s. Yvette suddenly arrives and makes\h\h
a shocking revelation:she had double-crossed\h Rhys and was working with Vasquez to try to\h\h obtain whatever was in his ECHO Eye unit (and\h she’s very upset that it’s now destroyed). The disguised Rhys goes to Vasquez’s\h office and overrides the security,\h\h allowing Fiona and Sasha to enter the “Hub\h of Heroism” to pose as tour guides. Fiona\h\h stumbles across the “Handsome Jack VIP Tour”\h group, and she’s forced to attempt to deliver\h\h a believable trek through Jack’s history\h(including a monument to Butt Stallion). The tour reaches Handsome Jack’s office,\h but when one tour member gets a bit too\h\h eager and rushes in, a security field\h activates and vaporizes him immediately,\h\h initiating a lockdown. She calls\h Rhys, who looks for another way into\h\h the office just as Yvette arrives,\h forcing him to cut the call short. Yvette announces that they determined the body\h he gave them wasn’t Rhys. She calls security,\h\h forcing Rhys-quez to cut her own call short\h one way or another. The Jack AI then informs\h\h Rhys about a trap door in his office that’s\h accessible through one of the prison cells. Fiona then gets herself arrested by sabotaging\h some property in order to meet Rhys down on\h\h the prison level. Rhys-quez, meanwhile,\h is then left to have an epic finger-gun\h\h fight with his fellow Hyperion employees\h in order to reach the prison himself. There, Rhys meets Fiona and Gortys before\h ditching his disguise. They help boost\h\h Rhys up to the trap door, and he’s able to\h successfully enter Jack’s office. There,\h\h Rhys searches for and eventually\h finds Gortys’s beacon upgrade. Meanwhile, down in the prison,\h Yvette appears before Fiona\h\h with some Hyperion guards, who\h have a captured Sasha in tow. As Rhys sits in Handsome Jack’s chair to\h initiate the trap door to exit, the Jack\h\h AI speaks to him about his own time sitting\h in the chair. He offers Rhys the power that\h\h he once held in the Hyperion throne, offering\h to take control of the corporation together. Rhys is then given the opportunity\h to get what he always wanted:\h\h rule of Hyperion. On the other hand, he can\h learn from his adventure and decline becoming\h\h the next Handsome Jack. Either way, Rhys plugs\h the executive override port into his ECHO Eye,\h\h either voluntarily or through Jack’s\h control of his mechanical arm. The Handsome Jack AI is then unleashed out\h of the prison that was Rhys’s head, and he\h\h quickly takes control of the systems on Helios. Based on Rhys’s decision, he’s either crowned as\h\h“President” of Hyperion for about five minutes, or\h is simply left powerless in the chair; either way,\h\h Jack hijacks the station’s systems and shows\h Rhys another one of Nakayama’s creations:\h\h a robotic endoskeleton. They originally planned\h to put it inside of Jack’s body before uploading\h\h his consciousness to it, but since he died before\h that could happen, Rhys will be taking his place. Rhys is able to scramble away from Jack’s\h attempt to graft the endoskeleton with his body,\h\h managing to snag the Gortys beacon and bail\h through the trapdoor. Down in the prison level,\h\h he regroups with Fiona, Sasha, and Gortys,\h who were able to shake off their captors.\h\h They soon get separated, however, forcing\h Fiona and Sasha to rush off with Gortys and\h\h the upgrade to the Hangar Bay while Rhys\h figures out a way to get the doors open. As the Handsome Jack AI wreaks havoc through\h the Helios facility while searching for Rhys,\h\h August arrives to help protect Sasha\h and Fiona. They escape to the Hanger\h\h Bay to find Finch and Kroger waiting for\h them, informing them that Vallory’s got a\h\h“different plan.” They take Gortys, and\h the upgrade, intending to leave. August\h\h has a change of heart and decides to try\h to stop them, but despite their efforts,\h\h the bounty hunters fly off in their caravan\h after Sasha climbs aboard with August. Rhys, meanwhile, works to get Helios’ power core\h shut down. Despite almost falling into space,\h\h he’s able to shut it down just in time\h to see the caravan fly off without him. Loader Bot then helps Fiona to an escape pod,\h sending her off to search for Gortys while\h\h staying behind to look for Rhys. After rescuing\h him, Loader Bot helps Rhys search for another pod,\h\h but they run into Kroger, similarly\h stranded. Loader Bot shields Rhys from\h\h Kroger’s gunfire while pushing him into\h the final escape pod and launches it. As the doors close, Rhys is forced\h to watch through the window of the\h\h pod as Kroger arrives and shoots Loader Bot. Without power, the Helios station falls out\h of orbit and comes crashing down into Pandora,\h\h while Fiona and Rhys’s pods crash land\h elsewhere, knocking them both unconscious. When Rhys awakens, he finds himself\h in the wreckage of the city of\h\h Opportunity. He finds a monitor\h displaying the Handsome Jack AI,\h\h who laments losing Helios again. He tells Rhys\h that he’s proud of him for never giving up,\h\h but secretly connects another probe to his\h skull, re-uploading himself into Rhys’s ECHO Eye. The Handsome Jack AI takes control of Rhys’s\h mechanical arm, forcing him to rip it out. With\h\h Jack still alive in his ECHO Eye, Rhys is then\h forced to cut it out of his skull with a shard\h\h of glass. As the Handsome Jack AI pleads for his\h life, Rhys yanks out his eye, finally shutting\h\h the AI down. Rhys is then given the option to\h crush his implant to destroy the Handsome Jack AI\h\h forever, or keep it for an undetermined purpose.\h Either way, Rhys passes out from his ordeal. Meanwhile, Fiona lands elsewhere on Pandora and\h emerges from her pod to receive a call from Sasha\h\h
with some horrible news:Vallory used the\h beacon to upgrade Gortys and summoned the\h\h
Vault, unleashing its massive guardian:The\h Traveler. Fiona makes her way toward Vallory,\h\h finding a dying Finch on the way (and having\h the opportunity to take him out or let him rot). Once Fiona reaches Vallory, their confrontation is\h cut short as the Traveler arrives and crushes her,\h\h instantly killing Vallory, much to\h the anguish of an onlooking August. Afterwards, Gortys pleas for Fiona to use\h Vallory’s fallen rocket launcher to kill her,\h\h as deactivating the beacon will cause The\h Traveler to teleport away. Fiona fires,\h\h but misses the shot. Sasha then\h arrives in the knick of time and\h\h grabs the Rocket Launcher as well, helping\h her aim it to hit and destroy Gortys,\h\h sacrificing her and causing the Vault\h(as well as the Traveler) to disappear. Rhys later awakens alone and snags the\h rights to the Atlas Corporation from Handsome\h\h Jack’s office (which he had bought), hoping\h to build something out of it some day;\h\h although they aren’t signed or legal at all.\h He then returns to the abandoned facility\h\h and starts working on some prototypes,\h including one of a new arm for himself.\h Much later, Rhys returns to Prosperity Junction\h to search for Fiona. He instead finds a masked\h\h stranger holding a gun, who knocks Rhys\h unconscious yet again before taking him\h\h captive. When Rhys awakens, he finds himself\h tied up with the stranger dragging him through\h\h the city. The stranger then instructs Rhys to tell\h him everything he knows about the Gortys Project. As Rhys tells his side of the story,\h the stranger takes him to a safehouse\h\h where he has a similarly captive Fiona.\h After the pair’s not-so-friendly reunion,\h\h Fiona fills in her side of the adventure. The two\h go back and forth recounting the past half-hour\h\h or so of this video as the stranger takes them to\h an unknown destination while collecting various\h\h scattered pieces of the Gortys Project. Once they arrive at their final stop, the\h\h
pair find what the stranger captured them for:a\h hostage trade. A still-surviving Kroger appears to\h\h exchange his own masked prisoner to the mysterious\h stranger in exchange for Rhys and Fiona. As Kroger prepares to deliver his\h payback to Fiona for Finch’s death,\h\h the stranger suddenly steps in and chokes\h Finch out, killing him near-instantly.\h\h The prisoner Finch delivered then lifts his\h hand, indicating to someone far off. Suddenly,\h\h red dots trained on Rhys, Fiona,\h and the stranger’s chests appear. They then converge on the stranger alone,\h and the prisoner knocks him down before\h\h tying him up instead. The prisoner frees\h Fiona and Rhys before finally taking off\h\h his mask to reveal none other than Vaughn\h underneath. He then calls out to his allies,\h\h telling them to turn off their laser pointers. As it turns out, Vaughn and the other\h Hyperion survivors took up refuge in\h\h the remains of the Helios wreck, turning\h it into a base and calling themselves the\h\h“Children of Helios”. Vaughn was\h subsequently elected their leader. After taking the mysterious stranger back to\h the base, they interrogate him to learn that\h\h he was actually Loader Bot all along.\h After watching Fiona and Sasha fire the\h\h rocket launcher at their friend, Gortys, he\h needed to know why. He crawled back to Helios\h\h and grafted himself to Jack’s endoskeleton,\h effectively giving himself a humanoid body. Now knowing he wasn’t betrayed, Loader\h Bot happily announces his intentions\h\h with getting the group back together. Leader\h Bot reveals that he wants to rebuild Gortys\h\h and summon the Vault of the Traveler so\h they can join together and defeat it,\h\h allowing Gortys to finish\h her duty and live in peace. While the group knows the insurmountable odds\h facing them, they agree to the plan. Fiona\h\h is then left to assemble a team of three\h other Vault Hunters, and based on her and\h\h Rhys’s actions thus far, her options include\h Janey Springs, Zer0, Athena, August, Cassius,\h\h and even Felix (if Fiona warned him about the\h bomb and prevented his death after his betrayal). If Fiona hires Felix, however, he instead calls\h her and explains that he never double crossed\h\h her. In fact, everything he did was part of a\h larger con to make it appear as if the Hyperion\h\h money was destroyed. In reality, Felix secretly\h stashed the money in an armoire in the caravan,\h\h which now rests in the desert in the location\h Felix had Fiona meet him. With the nine\h\h million dollars he left to Fiona and Sasha, Felix\h hopes they can find the better life they deserve. Needing someone to take Felix’s place, Fiona can\h\h use the money she recently procured\h to hire a new member: Claptrap. Yay. With the squad determined, whomever it may\h contain, the crew assemble at the Children\h\h of Helios’ base to plan their final attack.\h Vaughn determines that the Traveler is big,\h\h it’s nasty, and it’s gotta go. He instructs\h Fiona to drive the caravan with Sasha into\h\h the stomach of the Traveler before destroying\h the gland that allows it to teleport. Rhys\h\h and the rest of the team will ensure Gortys\h can get the Traveler into position so Vaughn\h\h can fire a moonshot from Helios to defeat\h the Traveler for good. Sasha then arrives,\h\h with a fresh new ‘do, and reunites\h with Rhys before the mission commences. The group exit out into Pandora, where Rhys and\h Fiona hold each of the halves of the Gortys core,\h\h causing them to combine once more and rebirth\h their friend, in her fully upgraded form. The\h\h beacon immediately activates, summoning\h the Vault and the Traveler along with it. Unfortunately, Gortys isn’t as\h up for the plan as everyone else,\h\h and doesn’t want to put her friends in danger\h by failing again. Things go further south when\h\h Vaughn gets trigger happy and fires the moonshot\h too early, completely missing the Traveler. Rhys convinces Gortys to go with the plan, but\h she insists that he “drive”. She then grabs Rhys\h\h and places him at her controls, leaving him to\h fight the Traveler while Sasha and Fiona fly\h\h into its stomach. Inside, they find two smaller\h Guardians protecting the teleportation gland. Outside, Gortys pulls the other team members\h into her cockpit, learning from their own\h\h personal skillsets to adopt new moves into her\h fighting arsenal while taking on the Traveler.\h\h Depending on the team members selected, Gortys\h has access to various spectacular moves that\h\h I meticulously played through the game multiple\h times to capture. Let’s enjoy some of them now. Inside the Traveler, the sisters\h use their skills to dodge, distract,\h\h and dispatch the Guardians long enough\h for Sasha to plant explosives on the\h\h transportation gland. The pair drive away from\h the blast radius, but when they learn that\h\h they’re out of range of the detonator,\h Sasha takes it and exits the caravan,\h\h sacrificing herself and returning into\h the Traveler while Fiona drives out. While Fiona tries to turn around to go back\h into the Traveler’s stomach, the explosion is\h\h set off moments later, successfully destroying\h the teleportation gland and grounding the beast.\h\h Fiona and Vaughn fire the moonshot, weakening\h the Traveler before Rhys has Gortys deliver the\h\h final blow; bringing the massive creature down\h for good and making their mission a success. In the wake of the battle, the group\h briefly celebrate, and Loader Bot is\h\h reunited with Gortys in her normal form. Rhys\h sees Fiona and realizes that Sasha is missing,\h\h leaving the pair to frantically\h search for her. Rhys finds her,\h\h dying on the ground, and Fiona\h rushes over to be with her sister. Felix’s gift then shows its true purpose. The\h watch, with “Time Heals All Wounds” inscribed\h\h on it, turns out to be a bit more literal than\h one would think. It raises above Sasha’s chest\h\h and lifts her in the air, healing her back to\h perfect health (before subsequently dropping\h\h from fifteen or so feet in the air).\h Fiona rushes over and hugs her sister,\h\h and the group celebrate their victory properly,\h leaving with new friends and a ton of loot. Rhys and Fiona then spot the entrance to\h the Vault, and leave the rest of the group\h\h behind to race each other to it. They reach it\h together and enter, finding a stairway leading\h\h to a chest glowing with Eridium energy. After\h some reminiscing and talking about their plans\h\h for the future, the pair open the chest and\h are suddenly teleported to another location.\h There, Rhys and Fiona encounter the\h“Seraphim”, an Eridian entity that\h\h grants each of them a wish. Rhys requests\h full legal ownership of Atlas Corporation,\h\h which is granted. Fiona wishes for Sasha\h to be with her, and the Seraphim teleports\h\h Sasha to her side. Luckily, Fiona’s given\h a real wish, and Sasha requests a rare,\h\h mint-condition "Typhon DeLeon" Vaultlander\h figurine, which the Seraphim produces. Rhys departs determined to rebuild\h Atlas, while Fiona and Sasha leave\h\h with the Vaultlander and plan to sell it to\h secure a new life. Upon arriving on Eden-5,\h\h the sisters are attacked by a thief who steals\h the figurine, but he is killed by the planet’s\h\h automated secbots, and the toy is returned\h to them, bloodied. Later, in the capital,\h\h secbots fine them for violating a neighborhood\h dress code; when they can’t pay on the spot,\h\h the bots apply debt cuffs, restraints used\h to control debtors and enforce social order. The sisters arrange a sale with Countess Cassandra\h Holloway, a powerful aristocrat. Holloway\h\h initially mocks them but confirms the authenticity\h of the Vaultlander. During the meeting,\h\h Gaige and her robot companion Deathtrap appear,\h seeking revenge on Holloway. A fight breaks out,\h\h and in the chaos, Fiona accidentally shoots\h Gaige, Holloway is injured, and Gaige smashes the\h\h Vaultlander against Holloway’s face, detonating\h a hidden grenade and destroying the figurine. With the Vaultlander gone, Holloway\h offers payment instead for Gaige,\h\h who has a massive bounty on her head for the death\h of a girl years earlier. The sisters take the job\h\h and subsequently deliver a captured Gaige to\h Holloway. While Gaige is tortured, Fiona and\h\h Sasha learn that her father died in a debtor’s\h prison after taking on and serving her sentence.\h\h Sasha bribes the guards (and even the warden)\h to free Gaige and expose Holloway’s corruption. The sisters and Gaige then begin targeting\h Eden-5’s elites. They infiltrate a gala at\h\h Holloway’s estate disguised as staff; and during\h the event, Holloway activates an orbital weapon\h\h to bombard Rustville, the city of debtors, while\h the assembled elites laugh at the destruction.\h\h Gaige then reveals herself and surrenders\h to Holloway, hoping to stop the attack. With Holloway distracted, the Rusters\h revolt. Along with Fiona and Sasha,\h\h they storm the estate and fight through\h to Holloway’s panic room. Gaige,\h\h having escaped from Holloway’s clutches,\h joins the sisters in the panic room and,\h\h after a final struggle, defeats\h Holloway by throwing her to her death. The rebels seize control of the estate, though\h several die in the fighting. Fitzwiggins,\h\h Holloway’s butler, warns that the\h other elites of Eden-5 will retaliate,\h\h and that Fiona and Sasha may become scapegoats for\h the civil war. The sisters leave Eden-5 without\h\h the wealth they sought, but alive and together\h with whatever future awaits still ahead of them,\h\h while Rhys continues his work rebuilding Atlas. Sometime later, with Sanctuary still without a\h\h leader, Lilith refuses to take command of\h the Crimson Raiders, and the group grows\h\h restless about leaving Pandora to search for\h more Vaults using the map they discovered. However, before the debate can go\h any further, the city is suddenly\h\h attacked. As soldiers invade from ships, a\h strange, toxic spore-gas floods the streets,\h\h transforming anyone it touches into\h monstrous plant-like creatures. Forced to retreat, Lilith phases herself and as\h many of the Crimson Raiders out of Sanctuary as\h\h she can. In the chaos, however, the Vault Key\h(which contains the map of the other Vaults) is\h\h
left behind, and the attackers reveal themselves:\h Colonel Hector and the New Pandora Army,\h\h the remains of an abandoned Dahl battalion.\h Hector seizes Sanctuary, declaring his\h\h plan to blanket Pandora in the spores and\h reshape it into his so-called “paradise.” Meanwhile, Lilith and the surviving Raiders\h regroup at a ruined Dahl base known as the\h\h Backburner, where they’re surprised to find it\h still occupied by a single inhabitant: Vaughn. With his help, they reactivate the defenses\h and establish a temporary base of operations,\h\h before retrieving samples of the spores for Dr.\h Patricia Tannis to study. She traces it back to\h\h“Mount Scarab” and a scientist who turns out to be\h Cassius LeClemaine, who admits that Hector tricked\h\h him into creating the gas. Cassius promises an\h antidote, but reaching him will not be easy. On their way to Cassius, the Vault Hunters\h meet up with Mordecai and his new companion,\h\h Talon. Unfortunately, during an ambush,\h Mordecai is infected, and Lilith rushes\h\h him back to camp while the Hunters secure\h a blood sample for Cassius. Unfortunately,\h\h Hector has locked down the route to the lab,\h forcing the Crimson Raiders to seek a weapon large\h\h enough to blast through. Luckily, Helios, and its\h moonshot cannon, are still crashed on Pandora. Brick arrives and lends his muscle as the\h team pushes through the Burrows toward\h\h the wreck of Helios. There, Lilith\h teleports Tiny Tina in, who’s more\h\h than eager to help rebuild the moonshot\h cannon. The group obtains a power core,\h\h loads Tina’s custom dragon explosives, and\h blows open the sealed gate to Mount Scarab. Finally, the Hunters reach Cassius’s lab,\h but when they scan Mordecai’s sample,\h\h they discover it’s been left unusable\h due to the lab’s decontamination chamber. Cassius then reveals that he’s in the late\h stages of infection himself, and nearly\h\h fully mutated. He asks the Hunters to end his\h life and use his blood instead. They oblige,\h\h sacrificing Cassius, and return his blood\h to Tannis, who successfully develops an\h\h antidote using his research; one that also\h grants the Hunters immunity to Hector’s gas. Armed with the cure, the Hunters\h storm the now-overgrown Sanctuary,\h\h now dubbed Hector’s “Paradise Sanctum”.\h Inside, they finally confront Hector,\h\h who infects himself directly with the spores to\h grow larger and more powerful. Though the Hunters\h\h bring him down after a rough battle, he soon\h rises again, accelerating the spread of spores. In the final moments, Lilith arrives, using her\h Siren power to banish both Hector and Sanctuary,\h\h ensuring the infection dies with\h him. The Vault Key, however,\h\h survives, lost somewhere in the wastes of Pandora. With Sanctuary destroyed and the artifact\h gone, the Crimson Raiders are left without\h\h a home or a map. Lilith, now resolved, steps\h into leadership at last, taking Roland’s place\h\h and vowing to rebuild the Crimson Raiders and\h take the search for Vaults beyond Pandora.\h Nearly a decade later, a new threat emerges\h on Pandora. Twin siblings Tyreen and Troy\h\h Calypso have united the bandit hordes into\h the cult of the Children of the Vault (COV),\h\h all in pursuit of an ancient ultimate\h Vault known as the “Great Vault”. Meanwhile, Lilith, still leading the Crimson\h Raiders, rallies a new generation of Vault\h\h Hunters to search for the still lost Vault Map.\h Four fresh fortune-seekers answer the call:\h\h Amara, a famed Siren brawler\h craving action; Zane Flynt,\h\h a tech-savvy operative from a family\h of bandits; Moze, a battle-hardened\h\h ex-soldier with a giant mech; and FL4K, a\h rogue AI who roams with loyal pet beasts. The rookie Vault Hunters are picked up by Marcus\h in his bus and immediately contacted by Lilith,\h\h who informs them about the Children\h of the Vault before vowing to find\h\h the Vault before they can. Lilith has\h them meet with her scout, Claptrap,\h\h who gives them an ECHO device and\h leads them to a COV propaganda center. There, the Hunters take down a COV member\h named Shiv before Lilith teleports in to\h\h meet them in person. The pair clear\h out the propaganda center and take\h\h it as the Crimson Raiders’ new base. Lilith\h reveals that the Raiders heard a rumor that\h\h a bandit clan found an alien artifact\h in the desert, which has led them here. They uncover a recording from a bandit known as\h“Mouthpiece”, announcing that the Vault Map was in\h\h fact recovered; by the “Sun Smasher” clan. Lilith\h and the Hunters fight to reach their leader, who\h\h turns out to be our old friend Vaughn. They take\h him back to camp, where he reveals that his cult\h\h is taking the alien artifact to the Calypso Twins\h as an offering at the “Holy Broadcast Center”. After meeting Ellie and using the Catch-A-Ride\h station, the Hunters drive to the Holy\h\h Broadcast Center, where the Calypso Twins are\h live-streaming their search for the “Great Vault”,\h\h including their upcoming procurement of the\h Vault Map. The Hunters try to find the Sun\h\h Smashers before they deliver it, but they’re\h confronted by Mouthpiece and forced to fight. After killing Mouthpiece, the Hunters\h find the Vault Map on him and retrieve it.\h\h They’re then met by a transmission from the\h twins, who reveal that Tyreen has used her\h\h powers as a Siren to drain the life force\h from the Sun Smashers who delivered the map. Unfortunately, when the Hunters\h return the Vault Map to Lilith,\h\h she’s unable to charge it. Knowing there’s only\h one person on Pandora who can figure it out,\h\h Lilith sends the Hunters to an Eridian Dig Site to\h meet Dr. Patricia Tannis. Tannis examines the Map,\h\h but COV bandits attack the lab, forcing Lilith\h to teleport in to assist in holding them off. Afterward, Tannis gets the\h map working again. However,\h\h Tyreen’s failed attempt to use it damaged its\h data, leaving only one planet decipherable:\h\h Prometha; the same planet where Typhon\h DeLeon found the first Vault years ago. Now with a destination, the Vault Hunters\h meet with Lilith and Ellie at a nearby\h\h drydock and help get their new ship up\h and running. Just as they do, however,\h\h the Calypso Twins arrive and take the Vault Map\h from Lilith by force. She attempts to hold off\h\h Tyreen with her own Siren abilities, learning\h that Troy also has Siren powers (due to him and\h\h Tyreen originally being conjoined at birth),\h but he relies on Tyreen to keep him alive. Tyreen then drains the energy from Lilith,\h leaving her alive, but powerless. The Twins\h\h then start streaming live, showing Lilith’s\h capture, Tyreen’s absorption of her abilities,\h\h and their reclamation of the Map,\h leading to their next top: Promethea. The Twins teleport away, leaving the\h weakened Lilith alone for the Vault\h\h Hunters to rush to. They rescue her, taking\h out her attackers and getting her to the ship.\h\h The group then leave Pandora\h behind, taking off in their craft,\h\h christened “Sanctuary III” (we\h don’t talk about Sanctuary II). Once in space, Lilith and the crew (Tannis,\h Ellie, Claptrap, and the Hunters) discuss her\h\h new lack of abilities. She knows that\h while she may not be a Siren anymore,\h\h she’s still a Crimson Raider, and they’ve got\h to beat the Calypsos to the Vault on Promethea. After taking care of some roadblocks in the air,\h meeting some of Sanctuary’s other inhabitants\h\h(like Moxxi and Marcus), the Vault Hunters chart\h the ship's course to Promethea. When they arrive,\h\h however, they find a blockade set up around\h the planet by the “Maliwan” corporation,\h\h despite Promethea being under Atlas’s control. Apparently, the Raiders have walked right into\h the middle of a hostile takeover, as they pick up\h\h a distress call from Atlas on Promethea. Hoping\h having Atlas as an ally will help them in their\h\h search for the Vault, Lilith has the new Vault\h Hunters get down to the service to help them. On Promethea, the Vault Hunters meet Lorelei,\h an Atlas barista turned resistance fighter.\h\h Lorelei helps guide them through the Planet\h to find her boss and CEO of Atlas Corporation:\h\h Rhys Strongfork. They fight through\h Maliwan and COV forces, learning that\h\h they’re working together before reaching\h and liberating the Atlas Watershed Base. There, they’re able to open up communications with\h Atlas HQ to speak with Rhys, who has grown a siege\h\h mustache. Rhys informs them that his “top agent”\h is preparing to strike at Maliwan’s “Gigamind”,\h\h believing that to be where any intel\h they have on the Vault would be. The Hunters find Rhys’s agent, who turns out\h to be Zer0, and work with him to take out a\h\h nearby Maliwan weapons depot. While doing\h so, they meet Maliwan’s CEO, Katagawa Jr.,\h\h through several threatening transmissions (where\h he seems to have an odd obsession with Rhys). The Hunters and Zer0 find the Gigamind, which\h turns out to be a sentient being with a large\h\h brain in a jar. They kill it, taking its data\h back to the Watershed Base to upload to Rhys.\h\h He promises the Atlas Corporation’s\h assistance in exchange for the data,\h\h and the Hunters upload it to him for\h analysis. In the data, Rhys discovers\h\h that Maliwan is searching for Vault Key\h fragments on another planet, “Athenas”. The Hunters return to Sanctuary and call down\h to Athenas, reaching Maya (the Siren who was\h\h part of the group of Vault Hunters who took down\h Handsome Jack). They chart a course to Athenas,\h\h where the new Hunters assist\h Maya in fighting off Maliwan. When they find Maya, she leads them to\h meet her apprentice, a young Siren named\h\h Ava who has taken an oath of non-violence. The\h Hunters assist Ava in collecting Eridium from\h\h a graveyard before taking out Maliwan Captain\h Traunt and delivering it to Maya. Maya is able\h\h to use her Siren powers to open a path to an\h Eridian relic: one fragment of the Vault Key. Maya and Ava join the Vault Hunters and take\h the Key Fragment back to Sanctuary and deliver\h\h it to Tannis for examination. Before they can\h plan their search for the other fragments,\h\h however, Rhys calls asking for help at Atlas HQ,\h\h where Katagawa has an asteroid-mounted\h laser trained unless Rhys surrenders. Zer0\h\h reports that the laser is powered by a Vault Key\h Fragment, immediately convincing Lilith to help. The Vault Hunters return to Promethea and meet\h with Rhys and steal a Maliwan shuttle which they\h\h take to the “Skywell-27” asteroid belt. There,\h they mow down waves of Maliwan security forces\h\h to help Rhys shut down the laser; but not before\h using it to destroy Katagawa’s personal yacht. The Hunters take the Vault Key Fragment\h powering the laser and return it to Tannis\h\h on Sanctuary. Rhys then calls again with\h intel on the final Vault Key Fragment:\h\h…he’s actually had it with him the entire\h time in Atlas Headquarters. He was hoping to\h\h research it to keep Atlas profitable, but\h he feels the Crimson Raiders deserve it. The Vault Hunters return to Promethea once\h again and enter a secret VIP entrance to\h\h Atlas HQ. While Zer0 was supposed to meet\h them there, they find no sign of him,\h\h instead spotting the corpses of Atlas security\h that were seemingly slain at his hand. Maliwan then breaches Atlas’s security,\h forcing the Vault Hunters to fight them\h\h off while getting the defenses\h running. Once they do, however,\h\h Rhys calls to inform them that Zer0 appears to\h have double crossed him and is now attacking\h\h him. The Vault Hunters reach him to watch Zer0\h seemingly fighting Rhys, only for the real\h\h Zer0 to arrive and knock off the impostor’s\h helmet, revealing Katagawa Jr. underneath. The Hunters then proceed to\h take down Katagawa in battle,\h\h killing him and finally removing that\h thorn in Rhys’s side. With that favor\h\h(as well as advice on his mustache), Rhys\h hands over the final Vault Key Fragment,\h\h which the Hunters quickly take back to Sanctuary\h and deliver to Tannis to complete the Vault Key. Lilith then calls Rhys again\h for the location of the Vault,\h\h which he reveals the old Atlas Corporation\h paved over and is now underneath the Apollyon\h\h Transit Station. Maya joins the Vault Hunters\h back down to Promethea, where Ellie provides a\h\h vehicle with a mounted machine gun for\h them to drive to the Apollyon Station. Blasting their way through COV forces led\h on by giant holographic projections of\h\h the Calypso Twins, the Vault Hunters\h eventually reach the station. There,\h\h they find a tunnel leading to the Vault,\h spotting Guardians as they near it. The Vault Hunters then use the completed Vault\h Key to open the Vault, revealing its inhabitant:\h\h the Rampager. After a ferocious battle with the\h ancient creature, Maya and the Hunters are able\h\h to take the creature down, creating a shower\h of loot and leaving the Vault safe to enter. Despite Maya’s instructions, Ava\h teleports in to see the Vault herself,\h\h and the Hunters enter it alone while the Siren\h scolds her apprentice. Inside the Vault, the\h\h Hunters are contacted by Tannis using technology\h she based off of Lilith’s powers. Tannis realizes\h\h that the Vault is connected to another one on\h Eden-6, giving them their next destination. When the Vault Hunters exit the Vault, they\h find themselves in the middle of an argument\h\h with Maya and Ava, who wants her mentor\h to give her a bit more freedom. Suddenly,\h\h the party is crashed by the\h Calypso Twins, who teleport in,\h\h thanking them for doing all the\h hard work getting the Vault open. Tyreen then absorbs the energy from the Rampager,\h revealing that the twins aren’t after the Vaults,\h\h they’re after the monsters inside of them, so they\h can collect their powers. Tyreen then grabs Ava,\h\h forcing Maya to take Troy in\h response. Her plan backfires,\h\h however, as Troy is able to grab her and\h surprisingly start absorbing her life\h\h force. Maya tells Ava to “be ready”, before\h disintegrating. Having what they came for,\h\h the Calypso Twins then teleport\h away, leaving Ava to mourn her loss. The Vault Hunters return to Sanctuary, where\h Lilith decides to continue their mission to\h\h open the Vaults despite the loss of Maya.\h Ava, who thinks opening more Vaults will\h\h only lead to more casualties, instead thinks\h they should go after the Calypsos directly. Regardless, the Vault Hunters decide to fly to\h Eden-6 to meet with an old friend in the area,\h\h Sir Hammerlock. Unfortunately, they\h receive a call from Hammerlock’s partner,\h\h Wainwright Jakobs (who is also heir to the\h Jakobs Corporation). Wainwright informs\h\h them that Hammerlock was kidnapped by\h the COV, who are also there for him. The Vault Hunters get down to Eden-6\h and find Wainwright, who reveals that\h\h the Calypso twins murdered his father before\h taking Hammerlock hostage, demanding the Vault\h\h Key that the Jakobs family possesses in return.\h Wainwright agrees to give the Key to the Crimson\h\h Raiders instead so long as they rescue Sir\h Hammerlock from a prison called the Anvil. During the rescue, the Hunters meet another\h mercenary Wainwright hired to free Hammerlock:\h\h Brick, who leads them to another\h familiar face on the mission:\h\h a now not-so-tiny Tina. Tina assembles\h a bomb for the Vault Hunters, who are\h\h introduced to another one of their predecessors\h shortly after: Mordecai (along with Talon). The Hunters use Tina’s bomb to get into\h the prison, finding Sir Hammerlock and\h\h freeing him from his captor, the Warden, who\h they quickly dispose of. After the fight,\h\h Hammerlock reveals that it was his\h own sister, Aurelia (previously one\h\h of Handsome Jack’s Vault Hunters) was the\h one who turned him over to the Calypsos. When the Hunters return with Sir Hammerlock to\h Wainwright, Aurelia calls them, claiming to be\h\h the new CEO of Jakobs Corporation and bribing\h them to leave the planet. She invites them to\h\h meet her at the Jakobs Manor to discuss the\h terms, and Wainwright recommends they accept\h\h the invitation to keep her distracted while he\h searches for where his father hid the Vault Key. Unfortunately, when they arrive at the manor to\h meet with Aurelia, they find that the meeting\h\h was a ruse. They instead find Troy Calypso\h waiting for them, speaking to Aurelia (who’s\h\h in another location). Troy uses the Siren ability\h he stole from Maya to hold the Hunters captive\h\h while he monologues, but he’s cut short by\h Wainwright, who arrives and fires a gun at\h\h Troy. Jakobs then keeps Troy occupied instead\h while the Hunters search for the Vault Key. Despite learning of Troy's ability to\h imbue COV members with his own powers,\h\h the Hunters find a vinyl record left by the\h Jakobs father and return it to Wainwright.\h\h While he gets his record player working,\h Jakobs sends the Vault Hunters to meet with\h\h a gunslinger he hired named Clay to build an army\h to resist Aurelia and the Children of the Vault. The Hunters meet Clay, working with him to\h free some prisoners and obtain some weapons\h\h while liberating the town of Reliance\h and rescuing a gunsmith from the COV.\h\h They return to Wainwright and listen to the\h record, which contains a message from his father,\h\h Montgomery, who reveals the three locations of\h the Vault Key Fragments he had in his possession. The Hunters look for one fragment on Montgomery’s\h crashed spaceship, the “Family Jewel”,\h\h while Hammerlock and Jakobs search for the other\h two. When the group approaches the ship, they\h\h receive a call from someone calling themselves\h“BALEX”, claiming to be the Jewel’s navigator. They soon learn that BALEX is an artificial\h intelligence, and is currently inside of a\h\h pink plush bear. They pick him up,\h and BALEX leads them to the Jewel,\h\h informing them about the hostile combat pilot\h AI, GenIVIV, which is still currently aboard. Inside the crashed ship, the Vault\h Hunters install BALEX onto an EMS bot,\h\h and later onto a combat mech. Working together,\h BALEX and the Hunters are able to get to the\h\h ship’s bridge to take on GenIVIV. After\h defeating the AI in battle, the Hunters\h\h are able to obtain the Vault Key Fragment,\h taking it as well as BALEX back to Sanctuary. Unfortunately, they find that GenIVIV had\h survived and tagged along, and she proceeds\h\h to take over Sanctuary’s systems. The Hunters plug\h BALEX into the ship, and he’s able to remove her\h\h from the system, storing her off into a hard\h drive which the Vault Hunters give to Marcus. The Hunters then give the\h Vault Key Fragment to Tannis,\h\h who’s working on a way to destroy the Vault\h monster before the Calypsos can take its power. The Hunters then return to Clay, who sends them\h to meet with an associate of his named Archimedes,\h\h a smuggler whom he sent to search for one\h of the Vault Key Fragments. They soon learn,\h\h however, that Archimedes took a deal\h from Aurelia to double-cross Clay,\h\h receiving powers from Troy Calypso. The\h Vaunt Hunters are forced to kill Archimedes,\h\h and retrieve the Key Fragment from his corpse. The Hunters return to Sanctuary and give\h the Fragment to Tannis, receiving a call\h\h from Wainwright, who has found the location\h of the final one: the Jakobs family cellar\h\h of gunpowder. They return to Eden-6 and attack\h the Jakobs estate, reaching the Gunpowder Mill\h\h where they’re able to recover the final Vault\h Key Fragment to unlock the Vault on Eden-6. Before they can leave to open the Vault,\h however, Aurelia stops Hammerlock and\h\h Wainwright at gunpoint. Preparing to put an\h end to the Jakobs family once and for all,\h\h Aurelia attacks, but Hammerlock steps in front\h of her. She shoots her brother regardless,\h\h before freezing both him and Wainright in ice. The Vault Hunters finally take on Aurelia in\h combat, and while her ice-powered attacks prove\h\h formidable, the new generation of Vault\h Hunters are able to take out the old one,\h\h killing Lady Aurelia Hammerlock. Luckily, Sir\h Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs thaw and stay\h\h behind to recover, leaving the Vault Hunters to\h find the entrance to the Vault out in the gardens. After solving some light statue-based puzzles,\h the Hunters reveal the Vault’s entrance, where\h\h Tannis meets them to collect the final Fragment\h and assemble the Key. Its entrapped monster is\h\h
then revealed:the massive Graveward, which the\h Hunters take down in another grueling battle. Afterward, Tannis successfully drains the energy\h from the monster before Tyreen Calypso can.\h\h With the Graveward completely destroyed,\h the Hunters enter the Vault to loot it,\h\h discovering that it’s not only\h connected to the Vault on Promethea,\h\h but also the one on Pandora, as well as\h another that Tannis doesn’t recognize. When they exit the Vault to regroup with Tannis,\h however, the doctor is suddenly phased away\h\h and kidnapped by Troy Calypso. The Hunters\h rush back to Sanctuary to speak with Lilith,\h\h but they’re interrupted by one of the Cypso Twins’\h live streams coming from the planet Pandora. In it, they show off their new captive, Tannis,\h\h and prepare to murder her live on\h stream. Before they can, however,\h\h they need their fans to donate Eridium to charge\h the Great Vault’s Key (which they’ve acquired). The Vault Hunters return to Pandora,\h where Tannis is able to contact them\h\h like Lilith did once again, urging them\h to rescue her. They soon meet with Vaughn,\h\h who has been monitoring the COV’s movements\h on the planet, learning that Tannis has been\h\h taken to a murder festival run by two\h streamers named “Pain” and “Terror”. The Hunters get into the festival\h just in time to stop the massive\h\h tank holding Tannis. They enter it\h to find the main area for the stream,\h\h where Pain and Terror have Tannis tied up\h before the crowd. After the Vault Hunters\h\h destroy their “Agonizer 9000” machine,\h the Eridium powering it is unleashed. Surprisingly, it’s then absorbed by Tannis,\h revealing that Patricia had a secret:\h\h she had been hiding Siren powers of her own.\h After taking out Pain and Terror, the Vault\h\h Hunters speak with Tannis, who explains that she\h got her powers as a “gift from a guardian angel”,\h\h revealing how she was really able to communicate\h with them and absorb the power from the Graveward. They return to Sanctuary, where the group\h determines that if the Great Vault is real,\h\h they have to prevent the Calypsos from stealing\h the power of whatever it must be holding. Lilith sends the Hunters back to Pandora to meet\h with Vaughn, and they inform him to rally the\h\h Crimson Raiders to attack the Calypsos’ Eridium\h stronghold. The Hunters then work with Tannis to\h\h take out the COV turret defenses before returning\h to Sanctuary to prepare the final assault. Unfortunately, their planning is interrupted\h by the Calypsos, who tell them to look out the\h\h window of their ship. Troy then uses their\h mass of Eridium (as well as the abilities\h\h they stole from Lilith) to charge Elpis,\h Pandora’s moon. The Calypsos then reveal\h\h that Elpis itself is actually the Key to the\h Great Vault, and once it opens, they’ll only\h\h have to absorb the power of the monster inside,\h forcing the world to watch them become a God. With no time to lose, the Vault Hunters\h say their goodbyes to those staying back\h\h on Sanctuary just in case before returning\h to Pandora to take on the Calypsos. Ava,\h\h Lilith, Tannis, Vaughn, and the\h Vault Hunters then work together\h\h to get through the legions of COV\h defenses on their way to the twins. The Hunters get into their stronghold,\h and while they’re able to take out\h\h the Eridium supply to Troy, he’s\h still left charging Elpis somehow.\h\h Lilith determines that he must\h be leeching whatever power Tyreen\h\h has in order to keep charging the moon,\h leading the Hunters to race to find him. When they do, the Vault Hunters are finally able\h to fight Troy Calypso one-on-one. Though he uses\h\h the leeched abilities stolen from the other\h Sirens, the Hunters are able to take him down,\h\h killing one half of the Calypso twins. Ava then\h rushes over and touches Troy, inheriting Maya’s\h\h powers from him, which Tannis theorizes\h have finally “found their rightful owner”. While Lilith’s powers aren’t returned\h to her, she’s just happy to know that\h\h they’re finally safe, and the threat of\h the Children of the Vault is now over.…that is until Elpis erupts. Tyreen awakens and\h congratulates her late brother for completing\h\h his mission before absorbing the rest of the\h power within him. She then rises off the ground\h\h with her Siren-like wings, proclaiming that the\h Great Vault is opening; and that the Destroyer,\h\h the monster Lilith herself once helped release\h and defeat, will soon rise and be free again. Tyreen then buries the Crimson Raiders under\h a pile of rubble, proclaiming her victory\h\h to her stream viewers before signing\h off, to be continued in Borderlands 4. Just kidding. Ava is able to protect the group\h using her new abilities, and Lilith makes a\h\h
massive revelation:Pandora itself is the Great\h Vault, and its landscape is shifting to open. The\h\h group then overhear a transmission coming from a\h nearby ECHO device, and when they answer it, they\h\h learn that the man on the other end is none other\h than Typhon DeLeon, the original Vault Hunter. Typhon warns them to get off of Pandora and get to\h“Nekrotafeyo”, the fabled lost home planet of the\h\h Eridians. Inside the smaller Vault on Pandora,\h the Hunters find a device to translate Eridian\h\h text. They return to Tannis’ lab on Sanctuary, and\h use the device to uncover a long-hidden message. The message tells of an ancient Siren\h named Nyriad, who was forced to seal\h\h away the lives of all the Eridians in a\h willing sacrifice. Their power fueled a\h\h Machine that imprisoned the Destroyer\h(whose strength threatened the entire\h\h galaxy) inside the Great Vault,\h which became the planet Pandora. The Crimson Raiders then follow\h Typhon DeLeon’s frequency,\h\h charting a course to Nekrotafeyo. When\h they reach the ancient Eridian homeworld,\h\h the Vault Hunters touch down and\h begin their search for Typhon. After traversing through the\h remnants of Maliwan camps,\h\h the Hunters find Typhon DeLeon. Typhon then\h leads them to the Eridian Machine that locked\h\h away the Destroyer the first time, hoping\h they can use it again. To open it, however,\h\h they’ll need four Vault Keys (three of which\h they’ve already acquired through their travels). The final Vault Key was luckily left by\h Typhon at a Vault on Nekrotafeyo. However,\h\h the Hunters are required to fight through\h an army of Maliwan defenses on the way,\h\h including General Traunt (the older brother of\h the Captain Traunt the Hunters took out earlier). When the Hunters reach the Vault on Nekrotafeyo,\h Tyreen calls them with another massive revelation:\h\h Typhon DeLean is her father. As it turns\h out, Typhon and his late wife Leda birthed\h\h the children on the planet, where they\h raised them until Tyreen accidentally\h\h killed her mother with her Siren abilities.\h Typhon then raised them, telling them tales\h\h of the Great Vault but never allowing them\h to leave the planet. Their resentment grew,\h\h and they eventually left him behind to\h search for the powers of the Vaults. The Hunters enter the Nekrotafeyo Vault and take\h out its Guardians to allow Typhon to safely enter.\h\h He takes responsibility for the\h monsters his children became,\h\h knowing that the Vault Hunters’\h job is to take monsters down. The Hunters retrieve the final Vault Key from\h Leda’s headstone, taking it back to Sanctuary\h\h for Tannis (and Ava) to charge. When it’s ready,\h Tannis meets Typhon on Nekrotafeyo, and the Vault\h\h Hunters join them to finally open the Machine that\h chained the Destroyer. They insert the final Key,\h\h and the path to the “Pyre of Stars” opens, leading\h Tannis to surmise that the Vaults on Pandora,\h\h Promethea, Eden-6, and Nekrotafeyo must\h be the power sources for the Machine. The trio then work to activate the connections\h to the Vaults, and when they’re all connected,\h\h Lilith and Ava arrive to watch Tannis\h activate the Machine. As she does,\h\h Tyreen sends waves of COV forces to try\h to stop them from sealing the Destroyer,\h\h as she still intends to leech\h its power to become a God. While the Hunters put up a valiant effort\h protecting Tannis, Tyreen eventually teleports\h\h in to take care of things herself. She immediately\h stops Tannis and destroys the Machine in a snap. When she grabs Lilith, Typhon is forced to subdue\h her with his energy whip. Tyreen chokes her father\h\h in turn, causing him to pull out a grenade\h in an attempt to blow her up alongside him.\h\h Tyreen instead absorbs the blast and directs\h it towards Typhon, sending him flying back\h\h into a wall. Tyreen then teleports back to\h Pandora to await the Great Vault’s opening. Lilith and the others rush over to Typhon,\h but find that it’s too late for him. With\h\h his last words, the first Vault Hunter makes\h him promise him that they won’t be the last. With no other choice, Tannis redirects the energy\h from the Machine to open a portal to Pandora,\h\h and the Crimson Raiders prepare to take down\h Tyreen before she can leech the Destroyer’s\h\h power. Unfortunately, they arrive moments\h too late, as they witness the remaining\h\h Calypso twin combine with the ancient\h monster to become “Tyreen the Destroyer”. Thus begins the largest battle the\h galaxy has ever known, and by far\h\h the most crucial. Per Lilith’s instruction, the\h Vault Hunters show Tyreen that “Gods can bleed”,\h\h and they fire at her with all of the\h munitions the various corporations in\h\h Pandora produced in the final effort to\h save the planet and the universe itself. Defying all odds, the Vault Hunters are\h able to bring the massive combination of\h\h Siren and ancient beast down; finally\h destroying the Destroyer for good (or\h\h at least until Gearbox decides they need\h it as a villain again). As it’s defeated,\h\h Lilith’s Siren powers are returned to her, and\h she triumphantly spreads her fiery wings again. While the threat of the Destroyer is gone, Tannis\h quickly notes that the danger is far from over.\h\h The charged Elpis is still tearing Pandora\h apart in order to open the Great Vault,\h\h and it won’t stop unless they somehow\h“remove the moon from the sky.” Lilith simply looks over to Ava and tells\h her “Sanctuary’s yours… Be ready,” before\h\h flying directly towards Elpis. Tannis\h frantically questions what she’s doing,\h\h and Ava knowingly explains that she’s\h sacrificing herself to save Pandora. In a flash of light seen across the galaxy,\h Lilith stops the Elpis moon from opening\h\h Pandora. Ava and Tannis look up towards it to\h find that while Lilith is gone, her Firehawk\h\h insignia now graces the face of the massive moon,\h forever lighting the way for future Vault Hunters.\h With the Calypso crisis over, Mad Moxxi\h sets her sights on a more personal score:\h\h a space casino called “The Handsome\h Jackpot”, an opulent monument to her ex,\h\h Handsome Jack. Years ago, Jack\h cheated Moxxi out of this casino,\h\h so now she recruits the new Vault Hunters\h to help her take it back and rob it blind. Upon arrival, they find the station in chaos;\h\h Jack’s death left it overrun by his hardened\h Loader Bots and swarms of stranded gamblers\h\h who’ve gone feral. An upstart mob boss\h named “Pretty Boy” has seized control\h\h of the casino’s security and refuses to\h give up his new fiefdom without a fight. Moxxi’s crew battles through gaudy districts\h and derelict vaults of the casino, picking up\h\h eccentric allies along the way including a\h pyromaniac entertainer named Ember. Another\h\h such ally is Timothy Lawrence, one of Handsome\h Jack’s former body doubles and Vault Hunters,\h\h who has been trapped on the Jackpot ever since\h his boss’s demise. Timothy’s face-grafted mask\h\h and DNA-linked cybernetic hand make\h the casino’s systems think he is Jack,\h\h meaning he can’t escape, and worse,\h everyone he meets tends to shoot first,\h\h assuming Jack somehow survived.\h With the Vault Hunters’ help,\h\h Timothy overcomes his own reputation and aids in\h the heist, seeking redemption from Jack’s shadow. Together, they topple Pretty Boy’s operations\h(including quelling a robot gang uprising in a\h\h trash heap city called “Trashlantis”, and foiling\h a double-cross by a hacker named Freddie). In the climactic showdown, the team confronts\h Pretty Boy in his reinforced VIP Tower.\h\h The crime boss plugs his consciousness\h into the casino’s ultimate vault mech:\h\h a giant Loader called Jackpot the Jack’s bot,\h\h forcing the Vault Hunters to dismantle the\h mighty machine and bring him down for good. With Pretty Boy defeated, Moxxi finally\h seizes control of the Handsome Jackpot.\h\h Rather than simply loot and leave, she makes\h a point to right Jack’s wrongs: clearing the\h\h casino guests’ debts and liberating the poor\h souls Jack had trapped there, including Ember. The grand heist concludes on a celebratory\h note, and Moxxi even promises Timothy a\h\h real date on the paradise he helped her steal.\h The Crimson Raiders then return to Sanctuary,\h\h chalking up another win and a long-overdue\h revenge against the ghost of Handsome Jack.\h Sometime later, the Vault Hunters\h receive a far friendlier invitation:\h\h the wedding of Sir Alistair Hammerlock and\h Wainwright Jakobs. The dashing big-game\h\h hunter and the Jakobs heir have chosen the\h ice-bound planet of “Xylourgos” for their\h\h matrimonial celebration, lured by its\h exotic locale (and legendary wildlife). When they arrive on the frozen planet,\h the Hunters meet the wedding planners in\h\h
this bizarre adventure:none other than Gaige\h(the former Vault Hunter-turned-party planner)\h\h and her ever-faithful robot Deathtrap, both\h happy to help their old friends tie the knot. The group soon arrive in the\h frosty town of Cursehaven,\h\h where they enter “The Lodge”,\h meeting with Hammerlock, Claptrap,\h\h
and the lodge’s proprietor:a creepy man named\h Mancubus Bloodtooth. While decorating the lodge,\h\h the group get a call from Wainwright, who\h has them secretly meet him in the town. When the Hunters exit out into Cursehaven,\h however, they find the festivities threatened by\h\h an ancient occult danger. The planet is crawling\h with eerie cultists worshipping a long-dead Vault\h\h monster known as “Gythian”, whose gigantic\h tentacled corpse looms over the landscape. They meet with Wainwright to inspect the\h venue, which becomes complicated when they\h\h interrupt a cult ritual being conducted\h by its leaders, Eleanor and Vincent.\h\h The Hunters defeat Vincent, revealing\h his spirit to be tied to a ring,\h\h which falls from the hand of a poor cultist\h who was the researcher’s current host. Things get complicated when\h the ring fuses with Wainwright,\h\h connecting him with Vincent. While Gage rescues\h Jakobs, when they bring him back to the Lodge,\h\h the groom-to-be starts hearing whispers, marking\h him as the chosen vessel for Vincent’s influence. To save Wainwright (and the wedding), the\h party works with a local detective named\h\h Burton Briggs to try to figure out how to\h remove the ring. They learn of Eleanor and\h\h her husband Vincent's past as Dahl researchers\h before they found the corpse of Gythian and\h\h its still beating heart (which Vincent\h believed to be the key to immortality). Learning that the ring is\h tied to Gyhthian’s heart,\h\h the group then ventures to the\h cursed peak of Negul Neshai,\h\h where the heart lies sealed. After being guided\h by a hunter named Eista, the Hunters regroup with\h\h Hammerlock to hunt a legendary Wendigo to use its\h fiery “kife” to melt the ice blocking their way. The Vault Hunters then storm the\h old Dahl base on the mountain,\h\h using Deathtrap’s laser eye to blast through\h to a piece of the Gynthian heart. Deathtrap\h\h powers up using the facility’s reactor.\h The group then head to the wedding venue\h\h where Deathtrap uses his newfound power\h to remove a barrier surrounding it. The hunters then enter the venue, and fight\h underground, entering the belly of the beast\h\h and confronting Eleanor in a final showdown. In\h an epic battle of guns and tentacles, the Vault\h\h Hunters manage to slay Eleanor, and the Heart,\h putting Gythian’s influence to rest at last. The real Vincent then emerges from\h the remains of Gythian’s heart,\h\h which he became merged with during\h his research, before he and Eleanor\h\h die side-by-side. Wainwright is then freed\h from his curse as Vincent’s influence fades. In the aftermath, Hammerlock and Wainwright\h decide there’s no time like the present;\h\h they hold an impromptu wedding, with the Vault\h Hunter enthusiastically officiating. At long last,\h\h using the rings recovered from Eleanor and\h Vincent, Sir Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs\h\h are married, sealing their bond “til death do them\h part” …and considering the weekend they’ve had,\h\h that phrase carries a little extra weight. Soon after, the Vault Hunters answer a distant\h\h call for help on Gehenna, a frontier planet once\h owned by the Jakobs Corporation and left to rot\h\h after secret experiments went awry. Since they\h left, however, the planet has come under siege\h\h by a vicious gang called the “Devil Riders”,\h looking to unearth Jakob’s old experiments. Landing on the planet, they meet a friendly guide\h named Rose (along with her pet “devil” Toge) who\h\h agree to take them to meet the Sheriff.\h On their way, however, Toge is injured,\h\h and Rose puts him down with her pistol.\h The group then reach the town of Vestige,\h\h where Rose leaves them to meet with\h the Sheriff. When they’re introduced,\h\h he shows them the “Obsidian Stone”, a\h large glowing rock in the town square. Suddenly, they’re interrupted by\h an attack by the Devil Riders,\h\h
led by their fearless leader:Butcher\h Rose, the very same “guide” that led\h\h them to the town. The sheriff of Vestige\h is gunned down in cold blood by Rose,\h\h and her Devil Riders teleport the Obsidian\h Stone away as Rose leaves with it. With his final breath, the sheriff gives his\h badge to the Hunters, instructing them to give\h\h it to Juno, a tough-as-nails rancher with outlaw\h ties to the gang. Juno shows them to the Devil\h\h Riders’ hideout, and on their way, the Hunters\h learn of an enigmatic substance called “Core”,\h\h a powerful mineral native to Gehenna that\h Jakobs researchers once tried to weaponize. The Hunters head to the hideout and free\h another bounty hunter named Titus on the way.\h\h He joins them to the hideout, where they learn\h that the Obsidian Stone is actually an egg,\h\h containing a dormant monster, called the\h“Ruiner”, born of the old Jakobs experiments. In fact, Rose’s own grandmother was part of the\h\h Jakobs experiments years ago to create\h the biological super-weapon using the\h\h Core on Gehenna. Now Rose intends to\h finish what her grandmother started. Racing against time, the Vault Hunters stop a\h train carrying a cache of Core for Rose before\h\h meeting Juno at the old Jakobs facility it was\h meant to deliver it to. She helps them get inside,\h\h where they fight through the Devil Riders’\h strongest forces while chasing Rose. Despite their efforts, Rose succeeds in dropping\h a massive bomb on the egg in an attempt to crack\h\h it open. The Vault Hunters chase her to the\h impact crater, where Butcher Rose prepares to\h\h take the reins of Ruin. A brutal gunfight then\h ensues between the Butcher and the Hunters. Rose is ultimately defeated in the battle, but as\h she lays dying, she whistles a tune that causes\h\h the egg to hatch. From it emerges the Ruiner, a\h colossal rampaging beast engineered from Gehenna’s\h\h feral creatures that’s as fearsome as any Vault\h Guardian. In a sweep of dust, Rose vanishes;\h\h possibly dead by the Vault Hunters’ hand, or\h perhaps she slipped away amidst the chaos. Either way, the Vault Hunters then slay the\h charging behemoth in an earth-shaking battle\h\h that rattles the very foundations of Gehenna. When\h the gunsmoke clears, the Ruiner lies defeated,\h\h ending the Jakobs Corporation’s ill-fated\h“Core” experiment once and for all. In the aftermath, Vestige and the people of\h Gehenna begin to rebuild without the Devil\h\h Riders’ terror. The Vault Hunters then\h ride off into the proverbial sunset now\h\h that the West was won, Crimson Raider-style. Back on Sanctuary III, Dr. Patricia Tannis\h\h presents the Vault Hunters with one of their\h strangest missions yet. Tannis has been studying\h\h the deranged minds of Pandora’s psycho bandits\h and believes she’s found a common thread: a\h\h mysterious place or entity all psychos rave about\h in their madness, which she’s dubbed “Vaulthalla.” Convinced this could be a key to understanding the\h psychos (and the Vaults themselves), Tannis builds\h\h a device to literally dive into a psycho’s mind.\h For this experiment she enlists Krieg, the Crimson\h\h Raiders’ own resident psycho (and former\h Vault Hunter who fought alongside Maya). When the Vault Hunters enter Krieg’s mind, they\h find it split between his uncontrollable raging\h\h persona (“Psycho Krieg”) and a sane inner\h voice (“Sane Krieg”) that retains his gentle,\h\h heroic intentions. After meeting\h the two sides of Krieg personified,\h\h the explorers begin to piece\h together Krieg’s story while\h\h searching for access to Vaulthalla, the\h locked vault at Krieg’s mind’s core. Along the way, they encounter warped,\h nightmarish visages of old friends:\h\h twisted “evil” versions of Brick, Mordecai,\h and Lilith attack, representations of how\h\h Psycho Krieg distorted those memories. With Sane\h Krieg’s help, the Vault Hunters defeat these\h\h malevolent memory-phantoms and remind Krieg of the\h genuine friendship and trust those characters gave\h\h him, healing those mental wounds. In contrast,\h one memory shines pure and untarnished: Maya. Krieg’s love for the late Siren is so strong\h that Psycho Krieg kept Maya’s memory protected\h\h from corruption. When the Vault Hunters reach\h a mental echo of Maya meditating in a crimson\h\h train station, she even hears Krieg’s sane\h voice and offers gentle encouragement,\h\h implying that Maya was always\h able to sense Krieg’s true self. However, “Maya” is soon swept up by a bizarre\h locomotive called the Locomöbius; an angry,\h\h sentient train in Krieg’s mind. They’re able\h to fight the train and free Maya’s image,\h\h gaining Krieg’s mythical buzz-axe\h and power gauntlet in the process,\h\h symbolic keys needed to unlock Vaulthalla. The final piece of Krieg’s psyche lies back\h“where it all began”. The Vault Hunters venture\h\h into a recreation of the Hyperion facility where\h Krieg was tortured. They witness fragments of\h\h
Dr. Benedict’s cruel experiments:the procedures\h that shattered Krieg’s mind in the first place.\h\h They defeat the memory recreation of Dr Benedict\h and reach the hidden memories of Krieg’s past: Only to find them completely gone. However, both sides of Krieg are content\h with losing their past, agreeing to face\h\h the future together. With the symbolic items\h collected (his axe, gauntlet, and mask), the\h\h Vault Hunters complete the inner totem that opens\h Vaulthalla, the innermost vault of Krieg’s mind. Inside Vaulthalla they finally encounter the\h personification of Krieg’s unchecked rage:\h\h the hulking Psychoreaver. A titanic battle\h then erupts in the mental throne room of\h\h Vaulthalla. The Vault Hunters, aided\h by both Sane and Psycho Krieg, do the\h\h impossible and slay the Psychoreaver,\h conquering Krieg’s inner demon.
In that moment, Sane Krieg faces a choice:seize\h control and finally silence the Psycho forever,\h\h or acknowledge that this other self is\h also just as much “him” as he is. In a\h\h touching resolution, Krieg’s two halves\h decide to reconcile instead of separate. Sane Krieg thanks his violent counterpart\h for protecting what mattered most (his love\h\h for Maya and his friends) and\h chooses to remain by his side,\h\h guiding him rather than trying to erase him.\h The consciousness of Krieg essentially fuses\h\h back together; not fully “cured,” but more\h at peace than he’s been in a long time. As the Vault Hunters depart the now-calm\h mindscape, they witness a final, heartfelt vision:\h\h in a tranquil mental meadow, Krieg imagines a\h humble home with Maya standing in the doorway,\h\h inviting him in. Psycho and Sane Krieg walk toward\h her and merge into the single Krieg we know,\h\h who finally finds a measure of inner peace. In the wake of the Calypso cult’s fall, young Ava,\h\h now the Crimson Raiders’ Siren-in-training,\h takes it upon herself to play detective. Eager\h\h to prove herself (and train with her\h new Siren powers inherited from Maya),\h\h Ava starts a podcast titled “Mysteriouslier” to\h investigate a rash of strange murders across the\h\h galaxy. She ropes in the Vault Hunters\h as field assistants in this paranormal\h\h true-crime adventure, determined to uncover\h the truth behind these “supernatural” slayings. The murders certainly seem otherworldly at first\h glance. On Promethea, they reunite with Lorelei\h\h and delve into the case of an urban legend killer\h in the neon streets of Eschaton Row. On Eden-6,\h\h they track a series of unexplained disappearances\h(a killer vanishing into thin air) in the swampy\h\h backwoods. On Pandora, they confront what locals\h swear is an angry ghost in a canyon settlement. Each incident features witnesses\h describing spectral figures,\h\h inexplicable phenomena, and victims who\h died under freakish circumstances. Ava,\h\h ever the horror enthusiast, is thrilled\h at the possibility of real-life hauntings,\h\h but the Vault Hunters remain skeptical,\h looking for more realistic culprits. The trail ultimately leads the crew to\h Nekrotafeyo, where the final grisly incident\h\h occurs at a place called Scryer’s Crypt.\h Deep in the ancient crypt, Ava and the Vault\h\h
Hunter discover the truth:the culprit behind\h everything is an entity known as “The Seer.” This mysterious figure, seemingly some kind of\h Guardian, was not only behind the “supernatural”\h\h murders, but also pulling the strings to\h ensure the Calypso Twins’ defeat all along.\h\h The Seer reveals itself as an otherworldly being\h\h
driven by a single goal:keep the path\h of fate moving in a certain direction. To the Seer, Sirens are “Acausals,”\h abominations with the power to change fate,\h\h and Lilith wound up not only alerting the course\h of fate, but shattering it entirely. The Seer,\h\h now knowing that Sirens can’t be controlled,\h instead decides to remove them entirely. Ava refuses to back down, and the final battle\h\h erupts in the depths of Scryer’s Crypt. The\h Seer unleashes otherworldly power, but Ava,\h\h growing into her Siren powers, overcomes the\h odds and fights back alongside the Vault Hunters. Ultimately, the team shoots down the Seer in a\h blaze of gunfire and Siren energy. With the case\h\h solved, Ava triumphantly anticipates broadcasting\h the final episode of her Mysteriouslier podcast. For now, though, Ava reflects on something\h the Guardian told her, that she would “find\h\h what [she] was seeking,” leading Ava to\h determine it could mean only one thing:\h\h Lilith’s still out there, and the\h Crimson Raiders are going to find her.\h One year after the defeat of Maliwan on Promethea,\h the war-torn metropolis is finally recovering.\h\h However, the Atlas Corporation is struggling,\h needing something big to compete with their\h\h counterparts. It’s on Atlas’s new space station\h headquarters that we meet Atlas scientist Dr.\h\h Anuradha Dhar, letting loose a group of their\h“Jabber” animal test subjects out of protest. Anu returns to her work on harnessing Eridium\h energy to reproduce the abilities of Sirens,\h\h namely Lilith’s ability to teleport objects\h through space-time. She’s able to harness\h\h the ability into a non-lethal gun with\h help from her research assistant, Phuong. Anu takes the gun to demonstrate it to Atlas\h CEO Rhys Strongfork, but he quickly dismisses\h\h her ambitions. Solely focused on Atlas’s arms\h race with its competitors, Rhys sees no value in\h\h technology that doesn’t kill, and unceremoniously\h fires Anu due to her antics with the Jabbers. Dejected, Anu begins preparing to leave\h the station, only for Phuong to warn her\h\h that the headquarters has suddenly come under\h siege. Tediore Corporation, led by their CEO\h\h Susan Coldwell, launches a surprise invasion,\h targeting a Vault Key that Rhys is supposedly\h\h holding. Amidst the chaos, Phuong creates a\h distraction so Anu can escape, and she flees\h\h the station in a familiar stolen shuttle car,\h crashing down toward the streets of Promethea. Meanwhile, on the planet’s surface,\h we meet Octavio Wallace-Dhar,\h\h Anu’s adopted brother. A smooth-talking hustler\h with big dreams and little to show for them,\h\h Octavio spends his morning bragging to his\h assassination-bot friend L0U13 about his\h\h inevitable rise to fame. After assisting\h L0U13 with a contract, Octavio looks to\h\h make connections around Meridian City to finally\h secure his breakthrough. However, his scheming\h\h is cut short when Tediore’s attack on Promethea\h begins, forcing Octavio and L0U13 to take cover. Elsewhere, Fran Miscowicz, owner\h of the struggling “Fran’s Frogurt”,\h\h starts her day as usual, helping customers\h(such as Lorelei, who has transitioned,\h\h now going by Lor), dealing with protection\h rackets, and battling insurance companies\h\h over claims for damages from the Atlas-Maliwan\h war. Fran’s day is quickly overshadowed by\h\h the sight of Tediore ships descending on the\h city, but as she prepares to defend her shop,\h\h Octavio and L0U13 come crashing in,\h bringing Tediore forces right behind them. Meanwhile, Anu awakens to find herself face\h to face with a psycho named Stapleface,\h\h who takes a strange liking to Anu, protecting\h her from other, more hostile Psychos. Anu is\h\h forced to separate from Stapleface to look\h for Octavio, and arrives at Fran’s just in\h\h time to watch it explode from Tediore explosives. In the aftermath of Fran’s shop being destroyed,\h\h Anu and Octavio reunite, and after a bit\h of an argument, she meets Fran. The trio\h\h eventually band together, realizing Tediore’s\h invasion has tied their fates together. L0U13\h\h follows closely behind them, providing\h dry humor with a side of lethality. Anu receives a call from Rhys with\h some good news and some bad news.\h\h The good news is that Atlas found\h a key for a Vault on Promethea.\h\h The bad news is that Tediore stole it. Rhys\h begs her to find it for the sake of the company. Looking for the Vault so they can\h get to the treasure before Tediore,\h\h the group follows the trail of troops\h into the underground of Promethea. There,\h\h they’re able to find the\h heavily guarded Vault Entrance. The group sneak in and watch as the Vault\h guardians slaughter the Tediore soldiers,\h\h but find their way into the Vault safely.\h Inside, they find themselves face to face\h\h with the Vault’s monster, a massive beast\h known only as the Devourer. Together,\h\h the unlikely allies manage to bring it down, with\h Anu using her device to phase it somewhere else. After the battle, the group recovers a mysterious\h green crystal shard left in the Devourer’s wake,\h\h humming with unknown energy. Anu studies\h it and realizes its properties are unlike\h\h anything she’s ever seen. Octavio, of course,\h immediately sees the potential to make a fortune,\h\h while Fran is simply happy to have\h something tangible to hit Tediore with. The group escapes before Tediore can catch\h up to them, but as they emerge back onto\h\h
the streets of Meridian City, one thing is clear:\h Tediore’s invasion wasn’t about Promethea at all;\h\h it was about the Vault, and more\h specifically, the shard inside. Unfortunately for them, in the rubble left\h behind from their battle with the Devourer,\h\h a Tediore crew finds Anu’s Atlas ID badge. Back at Fran’s, Anu studies the green\h\h shard and discovers that it carries powerful\h restorative energy. When Octavio accidentally\h\h heals a wound with it, the group realizes\h its potential. Anu is then able to craft\h\h the shard into a healing-gun using\h parts from around the froyo shop. Octavio suggests they pitch it as a revolutionary\h product to secure funding, while Anu insists it\h\h should be used to save lives, not for profit.\h Fran, still reeling from the loss of her shop,\h\h is willing to go along so long as it\h hurts Tediore and helps her rebuild. The trio decides to enter “Sink or Swim”,\h\h Promethea’s televised startup competition.\h On stage, Anu presents her upgraded ray gun,\h\h now harnessing the shard’s healing energy.\h As soon as she mentions that the gun heals\h\h instead of harms, however, the host, Finnegan\h W. Triton declares the idea shall “sink”. He then opens a trapdoor leading to a pool\h of sharks, but Octavio and Fran come to her\h\h rescue. Though she’s attacked by the sharks,\h the others are able to pull her out of the pool\h\h and use the healing gun to reverse the effects\h of the attack instantly. While Anu is healed,\h\h for a moment, she seems possessed, as her eyes\h glow green and another voice speaks through her. Despite their idea “sinking”, the demonstration\h attracts the attention of a mysterious angel\h\h investor, who calls and promises them\h one million dollars. The group then\h\h returns to Fran’s to determine how to move the\h business forward. Fran decides to scout talent,\h\h Anu decides to go to the morgue to\h acquire “test tissue”, while Octavio\h\h scouts a new headquarters considering\h the froyo shop is hanging on by a thread. When Anu reaches the Meridian City morgue, she\h meets the Keeper of the Dead, a nice enough old\h\h woman who luckily has plenty of product to\h sell… unfortunately that product is candles.\h\h While the Keeper is initially insulted\h by Anu’s request to purchase a cadaver,\h\h the old woman offers to show her a “spare corpse”\h in the back. Anu’s blind trust comes back to bite\h\h her, though, as the Keeper throws her\h in a coffin and locks her in, looking\h\h to claim the bounty Tediore has on her head. Thankfully, Tediore takes too long to arrive,\h\h and Anu has enough time to punch\h her way out of her wooden prison.\h\h While she’s unable to secure a sample,\h Anu rushes out into Meridian City,\h\h where the locals help her skirt\h Tediore forces to reunite with Octavio. Octavio then takes Anu to the new headquarters\h that he purchased with all of the angel investor’s\h\h
money:Fran’s Frogurt. Having bought the\h location sight-unseen, he somehow didn’t\h\h realize even upon arriving that it was the same\h rubble he was standing in merely hours prior.\h\h It’s an absolutely hilarious\h situation that’s totally feasible. When Fran arrives, she could care\h less, because she found their help:\h\h a beefcake named Fergus who’s\h willing to provide Free Labor. Their conversation is cut short\h when Tediore forces storm the shop,\h\h and Anu is immediately shot in the head. Luckily\h Octavio is able to use the shop’s new defense\h\h systems to fend off Tediore, leaving him\h and Fran alone with Anu’s lifeless body. With no other choice, Octavio uses the\h healing gun on Anu, and she miraculously\h\h springs back to life. However, she’s soon taken\h over yet again by whatever came over her during\h\h Sink or Swim. A spirit begins to speak\h through Anu, demanding to be “made whole”.\h\h Octavio promises to do so in exchange for\h the spirit to return control of Anu’s body. While the trio commiserate over their failures\h in trying to run the business, they decide to\h\h
contact someone more experienced:their Angel\h Investor. Soon after, an armored vehicle\h\h arrives and whisks them away to a luxurious\h hacienda to offer sanctuary from Tediore. When they enter the estate, each of them\h is quietly separated and handed a seemingly\h\h
perfect situation crafted for them:Octavio\h gets fame, fortune, and VIP party treatment;\h\h Anu gets an unlimited research budget with no\h oversight; Fran gets a massive frogurt empire\h\h where everything finally goes her way. It’s\h fulfilling, comforting… and completely fake. One by one, the dreams curdle and turn\h against them. Fran figures it out first,\h\h reliving the moments where her rage first took\h over her and made her activate her hoverchair’s\h\h“MECHA MODE’ before causing massive damage.\h She breaks free of the illusion, and busts\h\h L0U13 out of a stasis lock before tracking down\h Anu and Octavio, who’ve been dumped into cages. Once the gang is together again,\h the ruse is finally revealed:\h\h Tediore CEO Susan Coldwell introduces herself\h as both the “angel investor” and their captor.\h\h She takes the healing device from Anu before\h opening a conference call with all of the\h\h other big corporate players (including Athena,\h who has taken over Hyperion, and Katagawa Sr.,\h\h now in charge of Maliwan), demanding\h they merge into Tediore or be destroyed. She then unveils why she’s been chasing\h the green shard: it’s one half of a set,\h\h the other of which, a red shard, she already owns.\h The green shard heals, while the red one harms,\h\h and together the shards power a torture\h engine that kills and resurrects on loop.\h\h To demonstrate her new weapon, she runs the cycle\h on Octavio while the others are forced to watch. Suddenly, that same alien presence that touched\h Anu at Sink or Swim emerges again. It takes over,\h\h telekinetically ripping the shard out of\h Coldwell’s device and into Anu’s chest. The spirit then breaks out of the cage\h and tries to fuse with the other shard\h\h but Anu’s inner desire to go to Octavio fights\h back, causing her to pass out. With the demo\h\h complete and the shard spirit inside the\h scientist, Coldwell has Anu taken by her\h\h men to attempt to remove it, Octavio is then\h dragged off to a holding cell for leverage,\h\h while Fran and L0U13 are marked for execution. Later, Anu lies motionless on a medical table,\h\h the green crystal glimmering in her chest\h as Tediore surgeons prepare to extract it.\h\h Octavio is chained in a darkened cell, his\h mind haunted by his recent torture. Fran\h\h and L0U13 are dragged away, their\h execution seemingly inevitable. While unconscious, Anu drifts deep into her mind,\h\h taking the place of a Jabber test subject\h in a journey through her memories. The shard\h\h guides her through the ethereal realm as she\h encounters Phuong and revisits her mistakes. Meanwhile, outside, Octavio is able to\h outsmart his captors by threatening his\h\h own life in order to force his release\h(since they were given strict orders to\h\h ensure his survival). Elsewhere, Fran’s\h anger erupts and she turns the tables on\h\h her would-be-executors, and she takes them\h out instead, freeing her and L0U13 as well. Back in Anu’s subconscious, she spends the next\h part of her shard-guided spiritual journey inside\h\h Octavio’s shoes. She realizes her refusal to\h actually listen to what her brother has to say,\h\h recognizing the rift she’s creating between\h them and learning how to build a bridge. Outside, Octavio reunites with Fran and L0U13, and\h the trio begin the search for Anu in Coldwell’s\h\h office. Octavio steals her experimental\h tech and uses it to track Anu’s location. Inside Anu’s mind, she finally confronts Rhys and\h admits her fears and insecurities. She forgives\h\h herself, soaring with Siren-like wings in the\h shard’s realm. With her journey complete, Anu\h\h awakens on the operating table to find Octavio,\h Fran, and L0U13 entering the room to find her. Luckily, Anu is guarded by Stapleface,\h now working for Tediore, I guess. Octavio\h\h accidentally launches the building\h into space using Coldwell’s tech,\h\h and while the group initially elect to run to the\h escape pods, Anu convinces them that they need\h\h to stop Coldwell before she can use a weapon Anu\h accidentally helped develop to attack Promethea. With Stapleface’s help, the\h group gets to the bridge,\h\h but the friendly Psycho is shot in the process.\h They’re forced to leave Stapleface behind to die,\h\h rushing to the bridge as security forces\h give chase. As Octavio and Anu argue about\h\h whether or not she should remove the shard, the\h Tediore guards have ample time to line up a shot,\h\h forcing L0U13 to sacrifice himself by jumping\h in front of the bullet, killing the robot. On the bridge, they find Susan Coldwell,\h who unleashes her superweapon on Promethea.\h\h Across the planet a massive amount of the\h population dies instantly. Coldwell clamps\h\h Anu in a mechanical grip and demands she fuse\h the shard in her chest with Susan’s own red\h\h shard. That union would resurrect Promethea,\h but only if Anu gives up her human form. Faced with a choice, Anu can merge\h with the reunited shard or refuse\h\h and let it empower Coldwell\h instead. Whichever happens,\h\h the combined entity is ultimately defeated and\h Coldwell is killed. After the final battle,\h\h the shard recombines and soars into space,\h resurrecting Promethea’s inhabitants. How the story ends depends on the bonds our\h three heroes built during their adventure: If Anu lets the shard consume her,\h or fails to reconcile with Octavio,\h\h she vanishes in the fusion. Octavio and Fran\h survive, but are forever shaped by her absence. If Octavio’s bond was weakest,\h\h he dies during the escape. Anu and Fran\h live on, instead haunted by his loss. If Fran’s bond faltered, she sacrifices\h herself mid-battle. Anu and Octavio escape,\h\h starting a consulting firm without\h her but never forgetting her (and\h\h her unpaid intern who followed her into death). If their bonds were strong\h but fractured, Anu, Octavio,\h\h and Fran survive, but go their separate\h ways, each carrying memories and scars. However, If they trusted each other deeply,\h all three survive and emerge together,\h\h starting a consulting firm on Promethea\h with L0U13 rebuilt by their side,\h\h even assisting Rhys in getting\h Atlas back and fully functional. After it’s all over, Marcus Kincaid relays\h the tale to Fiona, which she listens to with a\h\h grin before pinching his wallet and dashing off.\h She follows the drifting shard into the Gladius\h\h Nebula, proving that in the Borderlands,\h every ending leads to a new beginning.\h Sometime later, we find Amara, the Siren who\h helped the Crimson Raiders stop the Calypso\h\h Twins, looking for excitement now that her\h legend has started to die down. Luckily,\h\h
Moxxi has a job for her:tracking down a lover\h of hers named Lyle who stole a family heirloom\h\h from her. Moxxi wants the keepsake, and Lyle,\h returned to her, offering a handsome reward. Amara heads toward “Rancid” City on Promethea\h with two other mercenary friends of Moxxi’s:\h\h a gunslinger named Ziff, and his loyal robot\h companion Varun. They stop by Marcus on the way\h\h to stock up on weapons, but are forced to make a\h quick escape when the town’s attacked by bandits. On the road, the group are followed by\h another vehicle, which they run from,\h\h believing it to be more bandits. When the\h larger vehicle literally swallows theirs,\h\h they’re relieved to find it to be\h piloted by Moxxi’s daughter, Ellie. Ellie reveals that Moxxi lied about the statue;\h it’s not a family heirloom, and it was actually\h\h stolen from a Vault by one of her boyfriends.\h Not wanting a Vault artifact to fall into the\h\h wrong hands, Ellie takes the others to Rancid\h City to find the statue, called the “Khakaw”. As they arrive, Ellie warns\h them about “Auntie Teo”,\h\h the region’s crime lord (as well\h as Lyle’s grandmother). Amara,\h\h Ziff, and Varun then head into the belly of the\h beast to search the city for the stolen statue.\h
There, the trio meet a familiar face:Lor, who\h runs the newest location of his coffee franchise,\h\h“No Roast for the Wicked”, in the city. Their\h conversation is cut short when the shop is\h\h attacked, forcing the group to completely destroy\h Lor’s new investment fighting off their attackers. With nothing else to do now, Lor joins\h the group in their hunt, hoping to make\h\h some money to rebuild. Unfortunately, they\h soon stop to eat, leaving a bored Varun to\h\h wander off looking at cheap upgrades. The\h proprietor of “Lew’s Electronics” then\h\h leads him into the back room, where he's\h captured in some kind of stasis chamber. Meanwhile, while the others are eating, they’re\h suddenly ambushed by Auntie Teo herself,\h\h demanding they tell her where\h her grandson, Lyle, was taken.\h Teo takes the trio back to her home, where\h they naturally deny any knowledge of Lyle’s\h\h disappearance. While she believes them,\h she decides to eliminate them anyway,\h\h forcing Ziff to jump in and offer the group’s help\h in tracking down Lyle in exchange for their lives. Teo agrees to allow them to search for\h Lyle, but before they can begin they\h\h search for their missing companion, Varun.\h They follow a tip to Lew’s Electronics,\h\h where they enter the back room… and are\h immediately captured in the stasis pod. Varun then enters with Lew, apparently now\h allies, and insists that he knows the others.\h\h Lew then frees them, introducing them to the\h City Merchants Association, which looks to\h\h take down the big business control. Lyle crossed\h them as well, so they’re also searching for him. Coincidentally, Lew’s men find Lyle, and he goes\h with Moxxi’s heroes to the antiques market to\h\h stop his attempt to sell the Khakaw statue. They\h confront him, and Lyle admits that he stole the\h\h statue to try to make his own fortune to crawl\h out from the shadow of being a “nepo baby”. Lyle tries to run, but the others give\h chase, tackling him. Unfortunately,\h\h he drops the statue, and it shatters\h into pieces as it hits the ground.\h\h Varun scans the material and realizes\h the statue was a fake all along. Among\h\h the shattered pieces was Moxxi’s real\h prized possession: a letter from Scooter. Ellie reads the letter, and in it,\h Scooter gives his mother a final gift,\h\h telling her to “just say the phrase,\h and this bird’s got ya covered.” Ellie\h\h then says the phrase, “Catch a\h ride,” and the bird is revealed.\h The ground shakes, and Teo’s men immediately start\h firing as a massive, mechanical bird descends from\h\h the sky. While Ellie tries to take control of\h it with a device that was also in the statue,\h\h Lyle steals it before quickly getting vaporized\h by the bird’s flamethrower eyes, dropping it. The bird goes on a rampage, slaughtering Lew and\h Teo’s men as they continue firing on it. When\h\h Auntie Teo refuses to surrender, the massive\h bird simply crushes her beneath its talons. Ellie suddenly pleads with Lew’s men to stand\h down, and when they do, the bird goes into sleep\h\h mode. Ellie realizes that the bird is strictly\h a defensive-weapon, attacking only when it is\h\h attacked. Ellie then finds a hidden recording from\h Scooter, taken just before he took off to space.\h\h In it, he explains the invention to Moxxi,\h telling her that while he knows his mother\h\h and sister can take care of themselves, “you\h never know when you need a li’l sumpin’ extra.” In the wake of the destruction, the City Merchants\h Association realizes they can use Teo’s assets to\h\h fund social services for Rancid, returning it\h to its original name of “Cidran City.” Ziff\h\h gets a steady job, and Lor rebuilds his\h coffee shop bigger and better than ever. Ellie and Moxxi, meanwhile,\h got their family treasure back,\h\h
as well as Scooter’s heirloom:\h his prized belt buckle. Sometime later, Amara returns to Moxxi\h at her bar, where she’s congratulated\h\h on a job well done. The pair are suddenly\h joined by fellow Crimson Raider Zane Flynt,\h\h who reveals that he’s there to collect Amara,\h whom he volunteered to watch Ava’s pet. While Amara is opposed to the idea of pet-sitting,\h\h she and Moxxi do decide to catch a ride on\h Sanctuary III. Zane asks where they’re headed,\h\h and they simply say they have a “sizable\h debt” to pay back to someone. Zane then\h\h realizes they’re talking about Lilith, and they\h confirm, stating that “Vaunt Hunters don’t quit.” The search for Lilith then\h begins, as we see Sanctuary\h\h III approach the planet of Kairos And with that, we’ve reached the end\h\h of the Borderlands saga, at least as it\h stands today. From Pandora’s first Vault\h\h Hunters all the way through corporate wars,\h cosmic horrors, and chaotic fantasy worlds,\h\h the series has carved out one of gaming’s\h wildest and most unpredictable timelines. Of course, with another trip\h into the Borderlands on the way,\h\h there’s sure to be even more chaos,\h more Claptraps, and more Vaults to\h\h add to this ever-expanding universe. After\h all, “there ain't no rest for the wicked.” Hey everyone, thanks so much for\h watching!
